r00+ has a birthday every day....

it would be pretty trivial to set up a cron job to run a per script to hit this site as a user and have it do XYZ - including updating your birthday to being new values...

I'm not saying that I'm making an automated user... well, okay, I might be.

Soooo

Happy Birthday to me!

What? No presents?

I was listening to my little girl watch an Elmo movie where he wishes everyday was Christmas. So I wrote a quick cron job/perl script to make it my birthday everyday!

there is a book called "Benjamin and his 365 Birthdays"
It is about a dog that wraps up his whole house so that he can open presents everyday and always have his birthday.

the only reason I remember it is that my dad was doing a recording session with his friends and he let me read that book into it and I had a tape of it for a long time.
it is pretty weird to hear yourself when you are young (since we didn't really have video cameras when I was 4)

and the sun blades suck. we have some at work - I suppose you could make them better by throwing more hardware at them, but then that sort of defeats the purpose b/c for that money you could have gotten a decent one....

No doubt

No doubt, the blades bite ass.
But it's the only machine they make that uses USB keyboard/mice. Which I jumped on because everyone steals sun keyboard/mice here at work because they're not smart enough to order them with their hardware.

As a desktop, it's not too bad. You have to play with process prefs in the kernel though to keep the damn thing moving.

Hey, you found a hack for the CDE bug? And No, GNOME isn't the answer:)

screw you - I like Gnome.
I don't have solaris at home - well, I used to run the intel version, but for the most part I'll run linux if I want a unix box (I'm gonna go the easy route and install mandrake 8 on a box I inherited with my apt)

just got my computer setup a little better and it is great - more table space, keyboard tray, etc,etc

last night I finished up the stripper part of my perl script for an automated user, it hits N base pages and scans for topics, then dumps those to a file.
now I'll write another program (tonight hopefully) to make a markov matrix from the text it pulls out from following the links.
then once that is done, it is a matter of outputting that to a file, and then reading it in with the next script that will log on to the site, find posts and reply to them, or randomly decide to post its own - all using tree following techniques down through a markov chain...

love this shit

matrices

I used to love Markov's principles on matrices. But I dropped it like a moped with one wheel when I found the power of heuristic reasoning and logic trees.

I skip the whole 'subscribe' function for the threads and use a heuristic reasoning script and some boolean crap to dump links the script predicts I'll like to a file.

GNOME is cool, don't get me wrong. But it has a very Fluffy Bunny look and feel. I always feel like I'm using a terminal for a four year old when using gnome. And I'd modify it to something cooler, but straight CDE fits me fine.

BTW, GNOME is now being bundled with Solaris. And you can ftp it for the sparc from sun too.

he hee. well, after I finish up my code on the current stuff I'm doing, I'll write it the other way and see which "works" better.

really, the best part is figuring out what the usernames are going to be.
