R O L L E D My Car Yesterday..

PlateheadJim

Penguin Keeper
Platinum
Just driving along the back country roads of the Deeeeep South, minding my own business at 120mph :nopity: and a blue truck starts to pull out from a side road..

I swerved to avoid him.. And of course we all know what time of the day is when you swerve at 120mph! :worried: So, naturally my car pitches & rolls as I can feel the frame start to bend and flex I knew I was heading for a serious accident..

I try to correct the path of the car (heading towards a 10ft drop off embankment) but it started to fish tail and went into a spin sliding off the embankment and rolling between 6-8 times (lost count around #6). While it was rolling I thought - "I wonder if this will mess up my next workout  .. Then I thought - Holy Shit! :eek2: I might actually die!"

All during this time I was flipping over and over, grasping the steering wheel (had no seatbelt on) and bending over to the right to avoid the roof knocking my fucking head in... Stuff was flying through the air in slow motion and I swear it seemed like so much time I almost wrote this thread while I wrecking!!

A few minutes after the roll fest I was awoken (concussion) by somebody asking me if I could speak/etc from the rescue crew. For about 3 hours I couldn't remember my name, what day/year it was but I could somehow remember the sack of dbol I had in my pocket.. Go figure.. After a nice long visit to the ER alot of tests and me proving my ability to think and act clearly I was released - seemingly ok.

Today I have nasty back spasms (right trunk muscles) just like I would get if I fucked up a set of squats.. Other than that I'm ok and glad to be alive :). You should see my fucking car though, it's gone - absolutely destroyed.. :(

Anyway, I figure I may reduce my speed a bit as this is my 6th roll since age 16 (6 in 15 years) .. We laugh at the dangers of roids and all the other chemicals we use but we forget the real dangers are on the road and in the street.. not in the gym..

Man, dude I am so glad you are ok. I mean that could have been it. I can't believe you thought about the gym when you were rolling. Too funny. But seriously you could have died. Maybe God is giving you a second chance to get right with him what do you think? I mean rolling at a 120 you should have been dead. I saw and Expedition roll 6 or 7 times at 70mph and and I saw them die me and my friend were the first to the accident freaked us out for days.

I'm not sure if you want Sympathy or a Kick in the Ass for going 120 on a backroad....

I guess a rollover is preferable to a Head On collision huh?

Nope, no sympathy for a stunt like that.. My last high speed roll was a week before graduation.. Ironically alot of my fellow classmates where convinced I would die on the road before I graduated.. Anyway, similar situation except there was no other vehicle involved, just 150mph, a small patch of gravel, and my girlfriends Lotus (boy was she pissed).

And yeah, I'm sure it would be better than a headon as with a roll, if you keep your wits about you - you may have a chance to walk away (voice of experience). A head-on.. Probably not as that and a side impact is the most deadly type.

Yea, My wife was pissed when I allowed a shopping cart to bump into her Lamborgini at Walmart last weekend.....
:D

So, why were you doing 120 without your seatbelt on. Why were you in a car period without your seatbelt on?

easy answer fro....

Seatbelts are Outlawed in Alabama..

Slow down Jim.

The life you save, may be your own... Or it could be a family.

That's fate's call... I had a close call the other night when we were headed to the Kid Rock concert. We were on the ON ramp, and I see some sparks flying from this guy's truck who is hauling balls in the fast lane, well he lost control, the sparks were coming from his car and the wall... I tell my friends 'holy shit, look at that!'
Just then, his car starts spinning in circles through the freeway.

He does about 4 circles before he hits a light pole, comes flying through the on ramp, and is about 10 feet in front of the car I'm in before he finally smashes into the wall.

Like you, he's lucky he didn't kill anyone.

When he hit the light pole, that bigass pole went falling onto the freeway. Smashed into someone's boat they were pulling. The fridge he was hauling in the back on his truck, flew out, and pegged another car... with 4 delicious girls in there.

Fortunately, everyone was alright.

Anyway...

6 rolls since age 15 should tell you something man. And, if you love speed, and want to race like that, fine... go to a track where they let you do that and you don't put other people's lives at stake.

You should really consider a high speed driving school. I have an nhra, nascar, and scca license and the advantage you gain in real world driving is amazing. Now driving 120 on public roads is leaving you open to several variables beyond your control i.e. other cars, deer, gravel. Also you'd be surprised at how weak street tires really are. Just because it's z rated doesn't mean the tire is good above 150 forever.....it's only good in short bursts because the tire gets really hot and air pressure gets too high and wham, blowout before you know it. There's just too many things that can happen I guess.........I used to do it when I was younger, but hey I guess everybody gets older and wiser.
