Protein Synthesis

You failed to see that I agreed with you Azul lol. I said there IS an upper limit but I agree it's more than 35g. I take in 50g per meal which seems to be good for me. I know if I take 100g's of protein at once though, i'm not absorbing all of it before I crap the rest out. 40, 50, 60grams at once, sure that's reasonable. Maybe even 80g's for some bigger guys, with a mix of casein/meat/whey. But there are indeed plenty of medical studies showing that large, infrequent meals are not digested and absorbed as fully as smaller, more frequent meals containing the same exact overall amounts of macros. Might not be specifically what you want, but that does show that the body cannot process unlimited amounts of protein at one sitting. That was my point, that an excessive amount like 100+grams will not be fully absorbed, for the rest I agree with you that you can certainly absorb more than 35g at a time.

The average person's body can assimulate 35g's of protein at one time. I know AAS increases this ammount by how much. Just curious because my protein shake takes 4 scoops and gives 56 g's of protein. i like to take it all at one time with 12 ounces of milk this is a total of about 65 g's of protein. On compounds like Test and Deca would any protein b wasted? thanx (the protein in N-Large 2)

Did the article post a citation to the research? I have never seen research finding only x amount of protein can be assimilated in one sitting.

3 hours of sleep = me tired. I'm going to sleep before I type up more nonesense :worried:

Considering I had 2 protein shakes, 2 wheat bagels, 2 baskets of buffalo wings, and an entire rack of ribs 8 hours ago and dont feel any crap at all coming on tells me we assimilate, and/or store, a whole lot more than 35grams.

i think the type of protein source counts too, i mean if i take at once 30 g of hydrolised protein it will b absorbed in the first 15 minutes to the first 1 hour and half , then the rest of 30 even 40 g from steak ( i had at the same time with that protein shake ) will be digested and asimilated begining in at least 2 hours until the next 4 hours , so this is the reason i consider that i can have a solid 40 g of protein and another 30 g of hydrolised whey at the same meal/time

My protein is Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex...55g protein per serving. I always mix that with rolled oats in the morning...so total protein is well over 60g's...its all good

Those high cal weight gainers will make you big...and fat! I remember I drank 1/2 of a 1000 cal shake before and after training while bulking for a week. I got huge pumps, but also gained quite a bit of fat in the week that I did it.

Is that a fair assumption to make? did all else remain constant except for the addition of the shake? ..and even then can ou blame the shake for making you fat or the additional calories?

You are confusing several things.
Assimilation and digestion are two different things.
It is untrue that you can only digest 35 gm of protein 'at one time'.
You don't need more than 1 gm of protein per Lb even on AAS.
Required daily amount is less than half of that (58-63 g).
'There is no scientific evidence that protein diets exceeding 1.7 g/kg per day provide an additional advantage.' Physiology of Sport and Exercise. page 416/417.

there r tonz of xperimental evidence that more that 2 and 3 g of protein / kg provide better results , just try 4 yourself and see !

1g/Lb comes to 2.2 gm/Kg.
That's what I suggested.
