I see a thread that I am subscribed to has new posts in it, so I click in it to see what the new post has added to the conversation. When it loads up, I find the only addition is a LOL or a stupid-ass smiley. People, learn to be creative enough to post something witty or germane to the conversation. There's already enough pick3's in the world, and it seems they all post here.

I was thinking bout the same thing, well kinda anyway. However, my line of thought was that we never know what kind of lol it was. Was it like a joyous lol, or was it like, shake your head and look down, sigh, lol, and mutter man thats fucked up. Was it more of silent lol, that's really a smirk. In fact I think all lol, should really be just smirks, -JS- its full reversible as Jack Schitt as well. I mean when was the last time IRL or online that U actually laughed out loud. I've seen some funny shit here, but its always been a smirk, mutter, re smirk.
Now just got hit with some more questions too... sorry to nerd your thread red.

As I have feared for some time, EF has lowered itself to forcing individual posters to advertise for thier sponsors.

Now I have to edit all of my posts so I don't hyperlink viagra like viagra.

Wonderful.

This is one practice I abhor.

it's the only way to show approval if you've already hit the person with k recently. without lol's there would be no satisfaction in making awesome jokes. it also helps resolve a flame war by showing who's doing the pwning. quit being a grinch; your posts arent that special

Theres a fine line when making a quality post. Dont post too little and dont post too much.


Does anyone seriously read those long drawn out posts that encompass and entire page? And when posting that kinda info why would you think anyone would want to read it?

If it's not mindless rambling and written well, yes. I prefer posts with actual material. That's why these places are called "discussion boards", no? Otherwise no different than those AOL chat thingies.

I just mean when people actually go back and forth discussing stuff, it's nice to see some substance, whether politics, ergogenics, science, or whatever. Replies akin to "lol", "pwned", and "fuck off" don't really do much.

I rarely have an actual "lol" at anyones posts on EF anymore, the cleverness is at a all time low and predictability at all time high

i agree, many people just respond with the same bullshit and I find it annoying. Almost never start threads, but if that's what they wanna do go for it. The real people on here are the ones who distinguish themselves from others with inane posts by actually showing something about themselves. Whether through stories about themselves or views on certain things that may come up. My favorite posters are the ones who display both and are usually the most interesting people who you will seek out their posts. Because there are people on here who will make all kinds of remarks and judge people who have really not given any info about themselves. They stay anonymnous because they can't handle someone who is spineless like themselves just looking for trouble.
