Hatton Believes He Should Be Rated At #1 P-4-P If He Beats Pacquiao
..."I hope to claim the number one pound-for-pound slot," Hatton said. "Manny has beaten Juan Manuel Marquez, the pound-for-pound number two, twice. If I beat Manny Pacquiao, I believe I should go to the top pound-for-pound spot in the world. If I do what I do best, I will have too much in every area for Manny."
Completely absurd.
How is it absurd to say that IF he wins against Pacquiao that he will be the best p4p in the world? He's just showing his respect to Pacquiao by calling him the current best p4p in the world. If he beats the man then he will become the man. I respect the way Hatton will always give 100% and take on only the best fighters around. So what if he balloons up between fights if he comes in shredded and in shape? If anything it shows his dedication to training although by the sounds of it Mayweather Senior has made him cut back on the partying between fights.
I'm 50/50 on this fight. Hatton is stronger and hits harder. He could bully Pacquiao if he's allowed to get in close by the ref. His training camp though has apparently been mared by 'personality clashes' and if he hasn't prepared properly then he'll get punished.
Pacquiao's speed is second to none and he could be hard for Hatton to catch. Those fast punches could eventually take effect against Hatton in the later round although I can't see Pac getting an early stoppage/KO.
