Oracle vs Peoplsoft

how come you guys havent considered SAP? they're the market leaders.

Currently we are on peoplesoft verson 7.

Manufacturing loves Oracle... Finances like Peoplesoft.

I can't even figure out how you are supposed to do your balance sheet reporting from oracle... let alone all of the financial statements.

oh yeah, your question. Oracle ERP comes with GUI frontends similiar to peoplesoft... only better. Don't picture your SQL prompt, think of a program like people soft.

As far as reporting goes, I would rather the company go Oracle.

Why?

Oracle Discoverer sucks and their financial reporting is weak.

Why do I like this?

I develop reports on top of ERPs using other 3rd party software, PLSQL, SQR, etc. It would mean some good work for me and my teams.

SAP - It's an programmed overaly onto an oracle database system with an reporting language called ABAP/4.

You could develop and ABAP/4 cult and no one will really know that it is just a gussied up SQL because its called ABAP.

Plus its Germany's revenge for our kicking there ass in WWII.

What ERP? Not sure really. I know our internal guys created a Java based GUI that runs off of the Oracle ERP system. I know we're on Oracle 11 right now but that's about it. I am part of tech support, so we access some or oracle for verification of support and billing but no farther than that. As for company, I'm not too sure if I feel comfortable saying that. I'll think about it though.
