Only 30 g of Protein per meal, WHA???

Talking to a this guy at the gym the other day and he had said something about how you can only process like 30g of protein per meal, anything over that you're wasting it (shitting it out - whatever you wanna call it)
I highly doubt this is an across-the-board thing. But I was just wondering if anybody knew some specifix on this. I doubt it, cuz I don't see a woman of 105lbs being able to absorb as much as a man at say... 210. I would just like some solid clarification on this. Thanx.

i be a hundred dollars...(if i were a betting man) that he read that from some bodybuilding magazine or heard it from somebody that read it from a magazine

research this stuff more than just what probodybuilders say.... there is a lot to learn.......... i generally take in varried amounts..... but one thing is for sure.... i always get at least thirty..... but thats just me and what works for my body

30 is way off-it is closer to 90g at a time that the body can use -if 30 was the limit, you'd have to eat 12 meals a day to get enough protein
 
geez I would love to know how one would even go about testing to determine (to such a precise degree) how much protein can be absorbed at one sitting.....

anyhow - if you're eating sensibly it doesn't seem likely that you'll be going far beyond 30-90 grams all at one sitting....
 
Truthfully no one exactly knows how much protein can be absorbed per meal...no one. I know for a fact that once I bumped my protein intake up from about 200-220 grams to over 300 grams a day, I really started putting on alot more muscle weight.
 
well....he is right to some extent. I'm not sure about 30g.....it depends on your body weight. But whatever your body doesn't use it is stored in your kindney's and is later used for calories.
 
That is one of the most pervasive myths in bodybuilding. I don't know of a single study that has even tested the maximum amount of protein absorbed in a meal. I wish someone would come up with a protocol and do the study so we could put this baby to rest.
 
Well thanx guys... I pretty much figged it was a load of shite. I'll be sure to scoff at him when I drop another protein bomb on my stomach. Peace.

You know, if I even remotely enjoyed science, I would concider taking it upon myself to put this baby to rest, as Java said. But I don't... maybe in the next life. =P
