on my way to North Dakota looking for work... any connects hit me up...

Moya,

I think you are making a wise decision and if you gut it out, will be much better off financially in the long run. It is not just important that you get out there and make a higher wage but also that you learn the industry. In 1927 my Grandfather moved from his parents 800 sq ft house in West Virginia to Texas to follow the booms as a driller. Within a few years he had his own drilling company and withing 20 yrs he was a wealth oil producer. If you are committed to learning this industry and have a passion for it, you will eventually make a fortune somewhere - just need to see yourself beyone a laborer. You have already proven ambition to get out there and find a job.

Before you take off, check websites for the big service companies. All of them post their jobs online and you have to apply there first.

Also, if you can, get your CDL. Truck drivers are in major demand and you can earn $100k if you have a license there and the work is much safer.

Lastly, if you can get on a job that pays a bonus for quantity, go for it. There are entry level guys that made $300k last year because they had a job # bonus.

Big mistake, look at the small Oilfield service companies...you go nowhere in a Big Company...come to Canada, they pay better. I've worked in the patch for 15 years and i guarantee no entry level employee made 300k...

I don't get the "Much Safer" thing...people think the Rigs are such hard work, they are not lol...10 years ago, yes..now? It's safety,safety,safety...i don't know how it runs in the States but up here safety comes first.

Trust me bro.. they are paying job bonus for logging jobs. Kids working almost 24/7 most any sleep coming on site. Salary of 80k bonus in excess of 200k.

Also, don't go to work for any company that does not drug test. You are likely signing your death certificate if you do.
