ninjitsu

LOL at the Virtual Tough Guy link. "He may claim to have been taught by a single individual, a Wise Old Asian Master..."

Witches who can't trace their initiation back to Gerald Gardner usually claim to have been initiated by their grandmother. The similarities are... interesting.

I have gone through this entire thread and all I have to say is this. Yes I to study Budo Taijitsu (ninjistu). Yes yes...one of the Martial Arts world misguided children. I agree and disagree with some points brought up here. So here is my 2 cents.

1. Yes Ninjitsu is dirty, grimey, off the wall and teaches things that any tradional dojo wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Why? It's because it's system was developed during a time of war ( yeah you heard this before). War is not pretty. It doesn't have rules or opponents that will let you go once you tap or give up. A referee that will stop a fight if things get out of hand. So yes in actual combat there is no such thing as "dirty fighting". you do what you do to stay alive. Ask the hostages that had their heads sawed off if they really gave a care about the rules of Pride, UFC or MMA.

2. The BJJer's do have their point which is this. In Feudal Japan, the practioners of Ninjitsu did not just study in the dojo. Their skill was tested on a daily basis in real life and death situations that don't exist now. Given our western society, our laws and way of life people are not swinging swords or throwing metsubishi ( any thrown weapon) into others faces. One thing that MMA, Tough-Man, UFC teach is acessing your primal brain. Whether it's competion or not, they are training to be physical. In a combat situation would they be perfect, would a BJJ or MMA win or lose? Depends on the circumstances or situation. I have fought a couple of Tough-man and fought Thai in the ring. I notice that alot of students in my Ninjitsu class do not posess the pragmatic, killer instict they would need in a real fight. Yes they may develop it over a period of time, but People who study MMA, BJJ develop that instinct alot sooner.

3. About this (ninjitsu) not being a real Martial Art...Well, it's not! In the System of "Ninjitsu" you find:
Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu
Gyokko Ryu Koshijutsu
Koto Ryu Koppojutsu
Kukishinden Ryu Happo Hikenjutsu
Tagaki Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu
Gikan Ryu Koppojutsu
Kumogakure Ryu Ninpo
Gyokushin Ryu Ninpo

These are just the nine strongest families out of thirty something. Each Ryu is a Martial Arts with in itself possesed of it's inherent strong points and weakness. Fundamentals of Grappling, kicking, punching, body movement, timing are all found. It's the person who applies them that determines their outcome.
I am happy that all Those of you that Practice BJJ and Mixed martial arts have found somewhere your sould and passions call home. My best friends keep me on my toes all the time putting me into submission holds constantly. lol. ( once in awhile I "ninja" them back lol.) For those who's happiness lies in others styles, wish them well and be glad they are doing something and not just wasting their lives.

Well my fingers are out of breath so...later.
