Hey guys I always hear about watching for signs of overtraining... could you give me a couple? I am lifting 4 days a week right now and I only train a body part once per week except abs I train them twice with 20 min of intense cardio after each workout 6 days a week. I usually do about 4 different excercises per muscle 3-4 sets of 8-10 always to failure. I am sure you guys are going to tell me my routine needs a total overhaul. I definetly appreciate any feedback you guys can shoot me... Thanks
BTW does anyone have a link to instructions on using calipers (not just the 1 point above the hip, but the full blown version.) Thanks

Some symptoms and effects of overtraining.
-Tiredness
-lack of motivation
-Sustained decrease in performance
-Loss of appetite
-Decreased immune system function
-Lack of sleep
-Decreased recovery ability
-Increased heart rate

Basically overtraining is a result of excess fatigue on the central nervous system built up over time.It is basically your body forcing you to take a break. If you try to continue training through it the symptoms will get progressively worse until you are basically unable to function in a normal manner at all,you will become so sluggish and tired that training will be the last thing on your mind.

This is a somewhat rough description.I am sure some like madcow could give you a far better description.
