Newbie Advice

Everyone was giving you solid advice...

"Work on your physique naturally for a while before you go for the juice."

I think that's great advice.

I personally have to get up in the middle of the night a few nights a week and eat if I want to start putting on some size/strength.

Hell, I've been at this for years and I just realized a few months ago that I don't get anywhere near the amount of potassium that the average bodybuilder/weightlifter should. That simple correction has started to push my lifts up.

The point is, most of these guys prolly spend more time planning their diets and training than they spend time with their wives/girlfriends. If you're not to that point in your bodybuilding career, AAS should be the last thing you should be worrying about.

But then again, what do I know...

You bet. I've given it lots of thought and have decided to wait a while on the roids. I began working out again today, and I'm going to keep reading and learning more. First thing is just to get off my ass and start excercising.

Thanks!

Hi!

I am looking for advice on my first cycle. I am a 35 year old male, 5' 9" tall and weight around 155-160. I lifted briefly at 23, but it was just with a 110 lb set of free weights and a bench. I got frustrated after 2 months and literally no visible results. I'm looking to hit 170-185lbs and bulk up somewhat. I'm not looking to be Mr. Olympia or anything, but I would like to look as good as I can. I'd settle for looking like the solo-flex dude. My BMI is 24.

A friend of mine suggested Anadrol, but I'm leery of it after reading about it. I'm thinking of injectibles but I'm not sure which are best and what I need to buy with them to avoid making mistakes. I have decided to do this, but I want to do it right.

Thanks

2 months huh! Wow! Thats a long time...NOT! I trained for 12 years before I started using. You have not payed your dues by a long shot! IMHO gear use should be used after you have put in your time...it should be earned. What will happen to you as you have no natural base all you gain will disapear in month after you stop. You are old enough to have developed some patience, now use it. Learn about nutrition, and training. Many people think they are eating to grow but after I prepare a meal plan for them they are like "holy shit! Thats a ton of food!" I then tell them I eat twice as much as that! Pay your dues and learn in the meantime.

I agree with quadsweep a weak foundation will only lead to injuries as you get stronger using gear-i trained over 30 yrs before i touched the stuff, hit the gym along with a sound program & the gains will come.only when you have reached a plateau and tried everything & i mean everything possible ,should gear be considered!I realise this is not what you want to hear, but there is no such thing as an easy way------quick to gain----quick to loose!

As I said earlier, you guys are right. You're making sense. I got some bad advice, and was blind-sighted by the promise of huge gains in record time. At first, I was reluctant to listen to the better advice I was getting, but after a while reality set in thanks to you guys. Some of you were a little harsh, I think...but you talked me out of it... Let's get healthy and see what hapens after that.

Thanks!

glad to see you decided to wait a lil on the gear
keep at it in the gym
Anabolics '02 might be a good book for you

I don't want to contradict what most have been saying and encourage you to get your diet and workout habits in check as well as proper research of AAS. However, myself being an ectomorph with an extremely fast metabolism I have been in your shoes. I had been training for 8 years naturally before using roids and at 6' I was 155lbs @ 6%BF (without any cardio). I would eat 4-5000 calories per day and simply could gain weight, rather I seemed to get leaner!. I did my first cycle at age 25 consisting of sustanon 500mg/week for 8 weeks and gained 30lbs. 2 years later I am now 200lbs 10% BF and have been holding my weight now that I currently off. Just wanted to share with you my experience...AAS can definitely give you a good kickstart (assuming everything else is in place). At any rate good luck!

About that potassium thing...I don't want to make it sound like I've turned my life around from a couple of bananas a day.

Potassium (and sodium) help to maintain fluid balance in and around cells. I think the balance of the two helps to transmit nerve impulses for proper muscle contraction and they aid in protein and carb metabolism.

After I added the amount of potassium I ate over the course of a typical day, like a can of tuna or a Mass Recovery(from ABB), I was eating less than 2 grams a day. For bodybuilders the recommended was something like over 3.5 grams a day.

Since I never really ate fresh fruits or vegetables, I decided it was time to rethink that strategy and at the least, have a 2 or 3 bananas a day.

With just that change in my diet, my strength gains started to climb again. Nothing amazing, but at least I'm on the up again, instead of remaining stagnant forever.
