Ok this is a supplement workout question but please dont move all you guys in this forum give the best advice. My buddys son is 16 he is just starting to workout for fottball and I want to help him out. What are the best ways for him to take supplement as Protein Glutamine and creatine IE how much and when to take and also what kind of workout do you reccomend Thanks guys you ROCK

bump karma for eveyone who helps. amount of protein a 16 year olad should take for weight gain and when and how much he should take of creatine and glutamine

5x5 is a great workout. protien and creatine before and after workouts and glutamine after. 25g pro before and 5g crea. 50g pro, 5g crea, 5-10g glut after... LOTSA FOOD and SLEEP!!! do that and he will blow up

football workouts are much different from bodybuilding...he has to create a workout that is position specific. lots of explosion excercies, power cleans hang cleans squats one legged squats, etc... I mess with resistance bands, chains all sorts of shit.

what position is he bro? that would help alot. I am an olineman so I eat like a mother fucker.

what position? I did core lifts and basic lifting with plyometrics. I was a WR/punter and this helped my speed a lot!

workout advice above is spot on.

For creatine 5g ED early in the morning is good.

For protein he needs to hit 1.5-2g per KG of body weight. Since he is young and growing I would recommend the upper limit of that. I would recommend he obtain the majority of his protein through solid foods like eggs, steak and chicken and also supplement with 2 or 3 x 50g shakes per day. He needs to take the shakes between meals. A pre and post work out shake is also in order. Throw in 40-60g of carbs in the post workout shake too.

This may seem like a little bit for a 16 year old but his metabolism should be like a rocket.

My philosiphy on protein is "within reason" no more than 400g/day. 2g of protein per pound of body weight. I can keep muscle with only 100 grams per day but that is very low -- little gain, only form. I can not build with less than 200 grams / day. Age matters; greatly. Buy The Big Green Machines cookbook.!!

I may be back

Every high school football player I train is on KreAlkalyn for their base Creatine. Protein, I leave up to them. I do recommend a lot of chocolate milk post workout. A ton of college level strength trainers have found that it tends to work as well as any powdered protein supplement. That said, I also recommend that they add a scoop of their favorite protein powder to their chocolate milk. Taste is pretty much the most important thing to these kids. Syntha-6 seems to be the most popular with my clients...I guess they like the taste.
