How did you train and eat when you were expecting? If you had it to do again, would you do it differently?

Definitely doesn't belong in the women's forum. Gonna get a ton of useful answers here.

(waiting for the gratuitous "if you need help getting prego, give me a call sexy, tee hee" post)

Settle down, Nancy and go find some socks that match those horrendous shoes you're so proud of.

they are super tender and already bigger at 8 weeks. I want to sleep 24 hours a day, too. Backache and crampy. Not too bad, though. I feel pretty good.

9 months later i was almost 100lbs heavier.

so, would i do it differently? i'd probably slow my hand back down.

I was actually going to try to keep going to the gym for first trimester and then maybe just walk lots later. I guess that would be fine.

You may not get it at all.

Seriously, eat well and sleep plenty. You are most likely feeling exhausted anyway, common in the first and last trimester.

Look into doing aquarobics... resistance training and cardio WITHOUT wear and tear on your joints. The water will help you feel lighter as the baby grows.

I realize that you didnt plan your life this way. Well, neither did I. As the saying goes, "Man makes plans and God laughs." I hope that you will be able to find a way to laugh along WITH God. I am not religious but I am spiritual. I thank God every minute of every day for bringing my husband to me. He took on ALL of my problems willingly. There will be an amazing man out there that will be THRILLED to have you and the wonderful gift in you - in HIS life! I promise you. :)

Thank you. I'm not really worried about finding a man right now. I'm okay to take a break from all that. I am looking forward to a sweet little baby though. I am a little worried about not being able to take much time off for the baby when I get back to work. I know someone will definitely be in my life someday. I'm going to be much more picky and careful when I have a baby in my life to protect.

I can't wait until it warms up here so I can swim daily. I have been walking everyday since I moved here. I take the dogs with me. =-)

i wasn't into the healthy lifestyle back then...always into sports and such but never really put focus in it until about 2 years ago.

i was on bedrest my first 3 months though so even if i had've wanted to run my chub off...i wouldn't have been able to.

By the time I was ready to tell my office (back in the day) that I was pregnant, I couldnt have hidden it even if I tried. I didnt gain a lot of weight but the doc explained it had to do with sluggishness of intestines, growing uterus, yadda, yadda. I had NO WAIST by my 12th week! Then with each child thereafter I "popped" sooner and sooner as my abs had been weakened and stretched with each baby. I never gained more than 40 pounds with any baby. My first baby was 8 pounds 15 ounces!!! :worried:

Just eat really well. If you want ice cream and chocolate, then eat ice cream and chocolate but try to fill up on more nutritious foods first. This will help cut down on fat gain. Remember, eating for two does NOT = eating twice as much.

I am so excited for you! :)

wait, this is for real?
you have to deal with the guy who hit you and whom you had arrested, etc, for the rest of your life. does he know yet? is he being more civil???

I didn't train when i was preggers, although at the time, i wasn't training anyway. i didn't gain much weight for any of my kids- 22lbs, 8lbs, and 0.

No, he isnt being any more civil. He found out today because the prosecutor now knows and told his lawyer. He hasn't made any steps to contact me to talk about it, so I assume he doesn't care about me or the baby. If I wanted child support, I would have to sue him for paternity. Then, he would probably want to be in the baby's life since he was "paying" for the baby. I don't know whether I want to even go down that road with him. Maybe I would be better off just to let him go do his thing. I doubt he will even live 18 more years the way he drinks and smokes. It is sad, but I haven't been thinking of those things much.

So subject of the crappy BF aside... Have you started thinking of any names for the baby yet?
My mother's name was Georgia and she wanted a grandbaby named after her, so I would do that if she is a girl...or maybe Georgianna.

For a boy, my dad would LOVE to have a grandbaby named Charles, so I would work that in for a boy.

I don't know about middle names yet.

Some thoughts are:

Georgia Celeste
Georgia Marie

Charles Linden
Charles Byron
Charles William

Heck, I don't know. lol.

i only gained 8lbs the second time. i wasn't sick at all- i didn't even know i was pregnant for an embarrasingly long time, so i was dieting. it was easy, since i had even less of an appetite than i usually do.

for the 0 lb pregnancy... lol... i'm not the birth mom.

Congradulations!!! Lots of good stuff on the web, and talk to you doctor, start YOGA now!!!! highly recommend it, only time I enjoyed it when I was prego. Have you started taking your prego vitamins yet?

The second trimester is the best time to start a new program or to increase the demands of your present exercise routine. Avoid strenuous activity during the first trimester of your pregnancy and do not increase the intensity of your program in the third trimester of pregnancy since demands for the growing baby are the greatest.

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated. Drink plenty of fluids during physical activity, especially in warmer weather.

Do not exercise in very warm and/or humid environments.

Avoid exercising on your back after the fourth month (i.e., first trimester) of pregnancy. When you lie on your back, the baby and uterus put pressure on the large vein that returns blood to the heart and the artery that carries blood to the body. This may reduce blood flow and make you feel dizzy, lightheaded and/or faint.

Do Not Exercise for Long on Your Back ~ Do not spend a long time exercising while lying on your back. Choose exercises/stretches that are done while seated or upright. It is not recommended that you exercise lying on your back after 19 weeks of pregnancy. There are some exercises that can be modified and performed on your side as an alternative.

It is not recommended that you exercise lying on your back after 19 weeks of pregnancy. There are some exercises that can be modified and performed on your side as an alternative.

There are many benefits to exercising regularly throughout your pregnancy. These include:

Maintaining or increasing your fitness level will give you more energy to deal with pregnancy and labour (you can often 'cope' with labour better). You will also have more energy after the birth to look after your new baby. A minimum of 15 minutes of aerobic activity 3 or more times per week is needed to gain these benefits.

Moderate regular exercise enhances the release of beta endorphins which can provide a sense of well being and decrease pain perception during pregnancy. This can lead to less lower back pain, headaches or round ligament pain (see increased ligament laxity and hormonal changes in Changes to your body affecting exercise performance to find out more about round ligament pain).

According to one study, women who didn't exercise regularly had a 2.5% increase in endorphins with exercise, whereas women who exercised regularly over two months had a 57%, 79% then a 145% increase in endorphin release with exercise.

Women who are fit will have a greater release of beta endorphins during their labour and therefore reduced pain perception in labour.

Improved well being and self image during and after pregnancy.

Reduced back pain due to more toned muscles to support the back and pelvic joints.

Your muscles will be more toned which improves the benefits gained by your abdominal and pelvic floor muscle exercises, and means they will go back to normal more easily and quickly after the birth.

Better muscle strength and coordination, which helps you to adjust more easily to your changing shape.

Improved sleep patterns - more slow wave sleep with fit individuals.

After birth you will have more energy to cope with the demands of motherhood.

Exercising during and then after pregnancy will help you to return to your pre-pregnancy weight earlier and more easily after the birth.

Hope that Helps!!

Its so hard being a single mom and now the crazy guy has to stay in your life for the sake of the kid. Congrats HR......but what I would do in this situation is nothing you would want to hear :(

I cant help you with the Excercizing cuz I didng while prego. I just watched what I ate so I dont gain too much junk weight.

HR, are you happy?
i mean, did you want this, or were you upset and learning to accept it now?
i can't imagine going through a pregnancy not only alone, but with so much turmoil surrounding the relationship with the father.
Maybe he doesn't know yet, or doesn't believe it, or doesn't know if you plan on keeping it.
anyway, nomatter what, i wish you good health AND peace of mind throughout.

why don't you just fucking handcuff yourself to him and throw away the key, counselor....

I am happy. I did want to have children sometime in my life, and I am 36 already. Of course, I dropped the test on the floor with my jaw open when I saw the test results. There is a piece of me that really wishes that I had someone to go with me to Lamaze classes, to be excited with me, to hold my hand during labor, and to be a good daddy to the baby. However, I know myself. I know I will get through this with flying colors and have a beautiful baby in my arms.

I actually don't think he will bug me about the baby because I live so far away and he has his own kids to raise. Honest to God, my biggest fear is that the baby will be like him. His kids are not very bright and have rotten personalities. They are always in trouble in school, are mean to other kids and each other, and are cruel. I also hate Dan's pig snout looking nose, and all his kids have it. Yeah, I know that is shallow, but I can't help it. I would hate to look down and see a little miniature of that jerk...lol.

I don't think he will be in our lives unless I pursue child support. I know him. He would make me file a paternity suit, etc. Then, he would want to see the kid if he was paying for it. That is how those types of men think. Right now, though, I think he would be content to be a deadbeat dad who never sees his kid. C'est la vie. I wouldn't really trust him around my child, unsupervised, anyway. I certainly would not want his kids around the baby either. They would be a bad influence. His kids are not good kids.

I stayed pretty healthy whilst expecting... I gained a ton of weight but due to fluid retention not poor diet. I worked a job that required me to lift and walk a hell of alot. (production work) I ate my norm, every now and again I'd eat some fast food or hit a local seafood resturant but still knew my limits. I was really amazed at how much weight I gained even watching what I ate. But lucky for me, fluid went away pretty quick... so I am so damn happy to say I ... yes I.... lost over 50lbs in 2 weeks... I'm bad ass! lol

Wow, 50 lbs in 2 weeks. =-) someoen ealrlier said you probably had your children between sets of squats. That made me giggle. I already am losing my waist and have to walk around with my jeans unbuttoned...lol.

so, you dont plan on telling him......good luck chicka, love your baby and raise it good with good manners. We gonna want to know what it is - boy or a girl, that is when the time comes for that :)
