Yes, but what if they don't agree? Who has the right to make the decision? It isn't that black and white.

It would be great if every couple could agree on matters like this, and in an ideal world, they would. But where do you draw the line?

Do you simply say, "Oh, OK, I'll have an abortion," even if it would kill you?

Yes, that's true. The mother gets to decide if she wants to have the child, since it's going to grow inside her body. And yes, the child is genetically the father's. In practice, the amount of support most nondads pay is a pittance compared to the amount of time money and pain that goes into raising a kid on the mother's end. Again, I say, if you aren't prepared to face the consequences of your actions, don't act.

Women get their own set of unfairnesses, remember, before you cry yourself asleep into your beer. How about this one. If I get pregnant out of wedlock and keep the baby long enough to let it show, I'm a whore (in society's eyes). If I abort it, I'm a murderer (in christian eyes). Regardless of my choice, the father receives virtually no social stigma. He has to pay a few hundred bucks a month child support. And, much of the time, he doesn't even pay that.

Cocks are like guns. They can both be useful tools, but you better be damned sure you are ready to live with the consequences if you draw either one.

I remember a phone conversation I had at the beginning of my pregnancy. I called my son's father very calmly and said, what in the world do you think I should do?

His response? "I don't care - it isn't my problem."
