I definitely think she can sing. I have one of her albums too ("What's the 411?). Some of the songs Iz good, and some of them Iz not so good. I love what a great singing voice can add, but the music (i.e., instrumentation) is usually more important to me. If it ain't right, then no vocals can fix it.

Mary J. Blige's popularity is due in very large part to remixes of her songs that are played in discos. "No More Drama" was a huge hit in discos this year. I think "Family Affair" on the same CD as "Drama" is a great song. You can't not move to it. "Leave yo situations at the do' and get yo ass on the dance flo'." But her song about PMS is way beyond the pale, but funny.

I cracked up when MTV named her something like the 80th most beautiful person in show business last year.
