This is interesting so I thought I'd just add my .02. I agree with the competitiveness thing. I think the only times guys compete with each other is if they both want the same thing, a car, a house, especially a girl. But if you remove that element, I think guys usually are more likely to get along than women. Women compete over butt size, age, beauty, etc... stuff guys generally don't care about.

But also, I think guys expect less from each other than women do. We don't need constant friendship affirmations, and it takes a lot for us to really insult each other. Whereas it seems that with women, if something can be taken wrong, it certainly will be, a remark, a look, going too long without talking, that kind of thing. Guys don't give a shit about that. I've got a friend from high school whom I see maybe once a year for the last seven years or more. Yet I still consider him one of my best friends.

This is all a based on my own observations of course. There are a lot of women who don't fall into this category at all. But I have to say that I believe most do.

I think its funny...that all you guy bitch about how your girl "friends" call you too much and thalk about their problems etcetc...

I have it the opposite way...all the guys call me to talk, for advice ..cause they know they can't talk to the other "guys' that way...breakups, family shit, health problems, jobs, etcetc

I have to say my fav thing is takin the guys shopping...cause I used to work in a designer menswear showroom and know exactly how to make any guy look incredible

there are different types of women as there are different types of men. to generalize about either isn't going to work.
I know tons of asshole guys that I want no part of, and I know plenty of women that are like what you say, and again, I just walk away from them.

there are many times on this board that I've seen people continually bash men/women as doing XYZ, when in reality, they are only seeing this b/c those are the types that you are hanging out with - if you don't like what you are seeing, perhaps you need to hang out with different people.
if you say that you are in fact not ever meeting any other types, perhaps you need to find new ways to meet people.

all in all, this world takes all kinds, and to say that some groups does this or that, while it may be valid for a particular case that you observed, it is by no means the rule.
