When I bought my house in spring I almost didnt get it cause of the title company had a discrepancy with their company name, and another sister company.. I locked in my loan type right before the banks changed some major rules and I would have to have gotten re approved and all that bullshit plus I would have to have put a higher percentage down.. But, luckily my state is what is called a "wet funds state" when a lender already promises money and you are approved legally they cannot renig so I got my house ontime!! I wish you the best of luck, if it's meant to be you'll get it..

He was doing a contract for deed type of situation with the previous tenants and put the deed in their name. They defaulted on the contract and deeded it back to him, but they had judgment liens and tax liens attach. Now the bank is willing to lend him the money to pay off the liens but they want to take a mortgage on the farm where he lives and he said that he would rather just let them foreclose on this house than to risk a mortgage on his house.

go deal with the bank then, hell, they'll bust ass not to be hung with a house in most cases...
