I looked at the 7000 and said "holy shit" you must eat all day long!

Makes you want to go out to dinner (and dessert!) with T, doesn't it? Just to see him in action, to see where a dinner in a 7000 day fits in.... :chomp: :)

I'm free whenever you are.

Worked out a little earlier....

Flat Bench: 135x10, 135x10, 225x5, 300x5, 320x5, 345x5, 365x5, 335x8

Incline Bench: 225x8, 255x8, 275x8, 275x8

Dips : bodyweightx 8 to get warm, bw+45x5, bw+90x5, bw+ 115x 4 sets of 5, bodyweight x 22

Had a great workout.....the 365x5 ties a 5 rep PR and everything on flat just felt like butter tonight....The focus is still on BTN PP and flats, I am gonna sub in incline in place of strict overhead for several weeks, (1) just because I like inclines, and (2) I figure the heavier loads I can handle on the incline should translate to some more gains.

I've been training, just too lazy to copy my workouts from my journal onto here, lol, I'll post tonight's workout....This is last week of my loading phase, and then I'll crank up the intensity and cut back volume/frequency and try to peak myself......I've been eating an average of 6000-7000 cals a day and my weight is between 250-255, sometimes it dips under 250, then I get pissed off and hit Baskin Robbins, lol..... I'm probably not gaining because I am training so damn often, I see front squats in my sleep.....I hope to slap on 10lbs or so when I cut back frequency.

I know, I know... You've been spending too much time in my log checking out halloween costumes! :D

And post up your Monday night workout, already!!

WW, I picked out 5 or 6 costumes.....for you of course, not me, lol.

Also, I lifted tonight

Wed. 9/27/06

Power Snatch: a lot of warm-ups and overhead squats with 45, and 135, and 185....then 5 sets of 2 power snatches at 225

Front Squat: 135x5, 225x5, 300x5, 325x5x5, 355x1, 385x1, 405x1 (ties PR)

Jump Shrug: 315x5, 405x5, 495x5, 585x5, 605x5, 405x20

Great workout tonight, the front squat singles were not planned, but the high volume 5's felt good and I felt on tonight, so I thought I'd push it a little as it is the last week of high volume, I was extra happy with tonight though, because I did heavy squats and deadlifts on Monday......weighed in at 255.

Nice fronts - I bet 405 is a site - I mean it's easy to see your a big guy but come on...405 on fronts. Nice - bet it felt great. The jumps shrugs are no joke - do you still get any soreness after training them?

How tall are you?

Thanks, Al....as long as I don't lay off them for too long and train them at least every other week, I don't get too sore, but after a long layoff, I'm sore for days from them.

I'm a shade under 6'

Great workout. Seeing front squats in your sleep? That's hilarious. Nice job on the squats and the jump shrugs. 605 in the air is outrageous. Next time, try dropping under it and see if you can get a new PR.

With 605, that would be a disaster, lol, but after doing 605, then dropping to 405 for the backoff set of 20, in the ealier reps, I felt like I was so primed from the heavy work, I could clean the damn thing......maybe next time and with a little less than 405, I may go for a hang clean with straps PR after heavy shrugs.

Have I mentioned that you need a video camera? ;)

Four plates on fronts...that's awesome. I can't wait to see what you do when you deload/peak. Congrats!

I have some pretty bad allergies bothering me today, so I loaded up on lots of coffee and Advil Cold and Sinus, lol, and rode the pseudoephedrine and caffeine to a great workout.....

Flat Bench: 135x15, 135x15, 225x5, 315x5, 335x5, 355x5, 365x5, 375x4 and 3/4, lol damn triceps (I made them pay later).....finished off with 335x8

Strict Standing Press : 135x5, 185x5, 205x5, 215x5, 225x5

Dips...warmed up with BW....then BW + 135x5x5, finished with bodyweight x 26 and trriceps were done.

Weighed 254.....

What's that odd duck doing in there? LoL Ditch him next time and you'll get 380x5.

Allergies, huh? Good thing you keep Kleenex in yo' fanny pizzack.

Here's the update...allergies turned out to be a cold, lol, I pretty much ran myself into the ground at the gym.....so I took the weekend off....haven't trained since Thurs. I am gonna go tonight and see what happens as I am feeling a lot better. I ate a lot the past 4 days and I'm feeling heavy and strong.

best thign for ya really...no need to kill yourself in the gym when your already run down....taaking the weekend off was proba smart move. kill it tonight

by the way....those standing presses are impressive to say th least...most people can't bench 225x5 lol

Riiiiiiight, what's that saying.... feed a cold, starve a fever...? :D

glad you are feeling better!

Got a good workout in tonight....

Strict Standing Press: 135x5, 185x5, 225x1, 255x 6 singles, 225 x 5 triples

Close-grip bench: 135x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5x5

Incline Dumbells: 100sx 13-12-12-11 (triceps shot at this point)

Weighed in at 257, took a couple pics, I'll post 'em up in a few.

al420 said:
How close is close-grip to you? Did you wear your UA gear to the gym or just put them on for the DB presses? lol

Close grip to me is index fingers at roughly 16".......I wore Hollister (men's small) to the gym.....then I wore Under Armour (youth XL) to the supermarket afterwards.

Nice liftin' brudda!!

*In a thick Louisiana type accent* Dats a BIG BOY!!

:lmao: I thought I walked by you in the frozen section tonight!!! Damn UA gear

Hey T, looking badass and throwing around massive weights as usual. It's been awhile but good to see you guys are still moving houses!

Whats new with you, bro?

I'm getting married in two weeks :eek2: , so I've been so busy with plans, and stupid invitations, and seating charts, and everything else. I've still found a way to make it to the gym but I've been laying off the cals :rainbow: since August because I have a honeymoon coming up and I'd rather not be sporting a set of d-cups and a belly.

What's new with you?

Edit: It looks like you've eaten an entire village; including the children.

Congrats, I knew the wedding was coming up sometime.....and yeah, you can't be looking bloated in wedding pics, lol

Not too much new with me.......stick around and post some more.

Workout from last night (Tues. 10/3/06)

Power Cleans: Bunch of warm-ups.......185x1, 225x1, 255x1, 275x1, 295x1, 315x1, 275x3x3 (these felt great)

Back Squats: 135x15, 225x5, 315x5, 385x5, 405x5, 415x5, 425x5 (these felt like shit)

Chins: Bodyweight x 11, 10, 9, 8, 6

Standing Dubbell Curlzz!!111!!! 60sx8, 65sx8, 65sx8, 65sx8

Decent enough night. Weighed 257.

good job with the chins bro...at 257 11 reps is awesome!! question....you doing these wide grip or around shoulders width?

jpt said:

Thanks. I'm doing these around shoulder-width. Over the past 6 months or so my reps have been pretty constant on these with no improvements, but since I went from low-240s-mid-250s in bodyweight, I count it as an improvement.

al420 said:
You gotta try the DB curls seated bro - then you can really feel the burn.

Squats felt less than huh? Did you wear the UA briefs?

Nope...jeans from Hollister for squats with a pair of flip flops.....on a serious note, the squats didn't feel so hot, they weren't horrible, but harder than I wanted them to be....I will chalk it up to me not being used to high volume cleans first. I won't worry about it unless it happens again next time.

yeah...i think it's the hardest exercise to make imporvements on when your past that begginer level. i was stuck on 15 for a while...started using a 30lb dumbell about 5 months back...now i can do about 18-19. i switch off and on btwn weighted and just body weight....but since you put on about 10lbs that def means you improved f your keeping the same numbers...nice work!

holy shit hahaha!! your 12pm meal would fill me up for the day!!

I was in MI this weekend to check out things as I will be moving there in Jan....On Thurs. I weighed 257 and after 3 days of not stuffing myself to capacity all day long, I am down to 249, lol.

I trained today....Mon. 10/9/06

Back Squat: 135x15, 225x5, 315x5, 365x5, 405x5, 425x5

Flat Bench: 135x15, 225x5, 300x5, 335x5, 350x5, 365x5

Deadlift: 225x5, 315x5, 405x5, 495x5, 545x5

Incline Dunbells: 100s x 12-12-12

Good day back, weight and volume and all that will go up over the next 3 weeks.....I also did a little HIIT at the end of the workout to spike my appetite, then I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes when I got home.

Thanks, Al.....also I wanted to note for everyone's amusement (I know it amused the hell out of me), there was a kid at the gym tonight, maybe early-20's, and he was 5'9 or 5'10 or so and MAYBE, just MAYBE 165lbs soaking wet and he was wearing a skin tight t shirt that said "Be jealous, be very jealous"....lol, if I wasn't 27 years old and a supposedly mature 'adult' I probably would have made fun of him, lol.

Yeah, UA is coming out w/ a line that is co-designed by AF and Hollister so it is going to be pretty sweet - he must have an in.

You should have asked him for some lifting tips. I would have slashed his tires.

best wishes with the Big move coming up bro!!

Nice Training

Maybe you could stand next to the kid next time and glance at his shirt, then glance back at yours... then his... and say "Jealous of what?" :p

Felt good today, I had no soreness or fatigue at all from squats and deadlifts yesterday, so I am ecstatic about my current conditioning and workload tolerance.

Mornin' ....... :coffee:

Workout was great (looks like yours was too!!) Anyway, you'd be proud, I did front squats.

I know the amounts and types of food you eat must make you a monster in the gym, that is obvious. But do you have days where you feel sore or burnt-out or just plain old....?

Of course I do, lol...After about 3 hard weeks of lifting, no matter how much I am eating, I feel like a 70-year old man.....I usually back off for a week or sometimes 2 and I am good to go again.

Damn. Things are really humming along. Squat + Bench + Deads = awesome. Cleans + high pulls the next day = amazing. It's impressive stuff man. Congrats on being so kick ass. LoL

good work man...where in MI you moving too? I dont know if I'll be able to respect you if you become a wolverines fan considering you already like texas...

Bro you just don't stop do you? You are like a machine now. Incredible work each time you get in there.

And damn, is that guldukat?! Where have you been brother? Good to see you posting!

Yeah, I always loved that template.....really, what I like about it is the reassurance that you won't get burried pulling 2 days in a row.

I lifted Wed, and took yesterday off.....here is Wed. 10/11/06....

Strict Standing Press: 135x5, 185x1, 215x1, 245x1, 260 x 5 singles, 225x 4-3-3-3-3 (260 is a PR for strict pressing, I've never strict pressed that much in my life at any point, I credit all the BTN Push Presses, which I am going back to after the next 2 weeks)

Front Squats: 135x5, 225x5, 295x5, 315x5, 330x3, 340x3, 350x3, 385x1 (I will add to these next week and the week after, they were all pretty easy)

Decline Situps: Bodyweight x 3 sets of 20, I haven't done these in weeks and I am still sore from them.

That was it, short and sweet.....the pressing took a damn long time.

yeessss - also fall in love with this template of Starr - can't stopp training this template - has very fine variations that it will never boring and is of course superior...

Will also start again a new log of it beginning of next week here...

congrats to your new PR !!!

have a nice weekend !

Did you drop it from above your head and piss your pants? That is a great way to get out of spotting people from then on. For some reason people just don't like that??? Great PR! Insane...

Thanks boys.

Al, thats the all-time best movie, I watch it at least once or twice a month during football season.

FF, I'll try it next time because spotting too many people is a bit distracting.

that is an awesome strict press, you got me fired up to get some big numbers next pressing workout. Great job!

Forgot to post Friday's workout (10/13)...so here it is.

Back Squat: 135x15, 225x5, 315x5, 365x5, 385x5, 405x5, 435x3, 365x8

Close-Grip Bench: 135x15, 225x5, 300x5, 315x5x5

Pendlay Row: 135x10, 225x5, 245x5, 265x5, 285x5, 305x5 (haven't done these in a little bit, should be much better by week 3)

Standing D-Bell Curl: 55sx8, 60sx8, 65sx8

Took Sat and Sun off....actually did 20 min of HIIT cardio on Sat because I was bored before the games started, I more than made up for the loss of calories though, lol

Sprints, brother.....not all out, maybe 75-80% for 30 seconds, followed by 30 seconds of walking, I did this 20 times.

WHOOOOAAA!!! Congratz on the HUGE 260 strict pressing!!!!

305 Strict G.P. Row :garza:
Close gripp 315... 5 x 5 :chomp:

HIIT Sprints?! Great job!! Those kick my ass!
wtf?! :)

Change of goals or did you feel bloated and have your mothers thighs momment? :p

Sarge....no change of goals as of yet, but I always did pride myself on my conditioning and my GPP, so I don't want to lose site of that, I think my style of lifting does a good job of it, but sprinting 2-3 times a week can't hurt......about bloating, The only time I am not bloated in first thing in the morning, lol, so before the morning shower, I get my fill of posing in front of the mirror because I fill up with water soon thereafter, lol

lol... I hear ya, am posing is best :)

Ok... nice, way to be with the GPP... i'm going to be doing some kind of cardio for GPP as well... damn little kids tired me out in 10 minutes and I was sweating my ass off... can't have that :chomp:

Lifted today....Mon 10/16/06

Back Squat: 135x15, 225x5, 315x5, 365x5, 405x5, 435x5

Flat Bench: 135x15, 225x5, 300x5, 335x5, 350x5, 365x5 (same as last week, a little harder than last week, see explanation further down, lol)

Deadlift: 225x5, 315x5, 405x5, 495x5, 585x5 (PR for 5 reps)...I was amped up after this, I brought a pair of chucks, but said fuck 'em and pulled in my olympic lifting shoes for good luck, lol, pulling in an elevated heel is supposedly a big no-no, but it works for me, so I am gonna keep doing it.

Incline Press: 135x10, 225x10, 265x10 (just a little extra work)

Alright, I did HIIT 3 times last week, and I ate way, WAY too clean....plenty of food, but no extra garbage on a consistent basis.....the end result is that I weighed in at 248, down 9lbs from where I was....I had a nice flat tummy tonight with NO bench bloat, which is why 365 felt heavy as fuck....I am going to Baskin Robbins now to remedy the problem, lol. Overall a great workout, the deadlift makes up for anything.
