Jumprope

I don't have access to a treadmill, and I don't feel like running (unless it's on a treadmill) so I've taken up jumprope for my aerobic excercise

So tell me, realistically, is jumprope a good substitute for running? How many do I need to do (average) every day to = a nice running session? I've been doing about 200 but I doubt that's enough.

Jumping rope is awesome.... you get your heart rate up faster than running. And it's a lot more fun than running. You can change jumping rope up and do different moves, so it doesn't get boring.:D

i love jumping rope, but starting out....wear a long sleeve shirt. hehe. people thought i was into s&m i had so many lash marks. hehe.

good for footwork and also you can vary the intensity. it keeps me interested while doing cardio because you have to concentrate much more.

Yeah, jumping rope got my heart rate up real quickly, but I just got bored, much quicker than I did with most cardio excercises.

Cool thanks!
The problem is, after about 200 I keep missing and jumping on the rope! Is there any website that shows you the variety of tricks you can do to make it interesting? :))

Do intervals. It will increase the efficacy of the work. You want to lose fat, right?

I also got exhausted after a while and started lashing myself mercilessly with the plastic rope. Although, I sort of liked it...

Where was I? Ah yes. Tricks. These will keep it interesting. Try whipping the rope around not once, but twice for each jump. You really have to whip it, whip it good, however. And if you fail, an excruciatingly painful lashing is your reward!

Also, try criss crossing your arms and jumping through the loop then rapidly crossing them back once you´ve jumped through. This one wound up removing a few chunks of flesh from my shins before I mastered it.

Bet you can´t wait to get started!:(

Yup I want to lose fat. Here's the deal:
I'm not really fat, I'm 5'7" 140 pounds. But I used to eat things like crackers (I was down to a few packs a day) and bread ALL THE TIME. I loved the stuff! I don't do that much anymore, but it left me with some excess body fat. You can't really tell (when I suck up it goes away and reveals my 4 pack, the other two are convinently hidden by my lower belly button area pooch) (The only good part is all the girls say I have a nice a** now) I wanna get rid of it tho, and any excess body fat that I can.

intervals? Does that mean like do 10 minutes early morning, then 10 minutes at noon, then 10 minutes at night?
