I'm Back!

Sorry for the absence. I had the summer from hell. The cherry on top is that I am now 2 weeks post op from a fusion of C6-C7 in my neck.

I squatted this week for the first time in 9 weeks.

I got 5x5x405 and almost killed myself and could walk right for 3 days. I cried when I knew I had to go sit on the shitter.

I also dropped from roughly 260 to 219 @ 17% bf according to a DEXA scan.

All that said, all my new PR's are going to taste that much better!

I'm fucking back bros and there better not be anyone in my fucking squat rack!

Time to get back to business.

The old guy has spoken!

Thanks everyone!

The short story about my neck is that about 4 years ago I ruptured the disc between C6-C7. I never could find out how - just one of those things. Interesting point here is that Johns Hopkins estimates that 45% of the adult population has a herniation in their C-spine but it doesn't bother them.

Well in my case, it would flare up about 3 times/year. Each time I would get tremendous pain down from the base of my neck through my left triceps, and down to my pinky and ring finger of my left hand. With conservative therapy of pain killers, prednisone, and traction we could get it cooled down in about a week.

This time that disc wasn't playing ball with conservative therapy, and it had to be removed.

Unfortunately, we learned that about 5 weeks into it, and it and it took the rest of the time to get into the surgeon and then the operating room. I had to wait that long because I chose the neurosurgeon that the NFL has under contract. Obviously I am no NFL player, but I'm not Joe six pack either, and I wanted someone working on me that knew something about strength sports.

So that is the nuts and bolts of it.

Now I have got to go outside and push the prowler around.

I'm gonna love this comeback.

Welcome back man. I know what you mean about the injuries i still haven't been able to fully come back since i hurt my back, fuckin sucks!

I have 4 goals set to be done by the end of January.

1) Squat 750x2
2) DL 700x2
3) Load a 400 lb stone to 48"
4) Put on 40 pounds

I'm on a friggin mission.

i was wondering where you went. mods usually stop posting when they get mod status so i figured that was the case.

Only in the weight lifting section do they do that lol... I wounder why? The rest of us mods keep plugging away. Well most of them.

Don't bother me though I can always drop mods and bring in fresh ones who want to be around.:p:p:p:p:p:p

Keep in mind theres alot of behind the scenes work us mods gota do to keep the forums running smooth.

i believe it. its just a trend ive noticed. i always figured you guys were policing at that point rather than really getting into the posts.

good to have you back bro.

Let me ask you a question...in the last 4 years, or perhaps even before that, have you had any regular chiropractic, massage or acupuncture therapy?

Yes, lots. Also, I have had ART, Graston and cold laser.

It was the practitioner of all of that, that sent me for my latest MRI that showed I was clearly surgical.

Good to hear. It's all that care that kept you from needing surgery for those 4 years. Sorry it came to that, but good to have you back and getting stronger. Take good care of that spine now!

Good to have you back bro, I was wondering where the fuck were you, missed the sarcasm too.

That shit sucks, hope you are 110% all over those goals!

Thanks.

And I'm bringing a whole new load of sarcasm coupled with a lot of caustic interaction.

I'm old and a mod.

Its like I have double permission.

OK.

Mission comeback is getting serious.

Yesterday I pulled 675X3 with a Rehband belt & chalk only with almost a fourth (I got it, but refuse to call hitching one a rep).

Today I'm gonna clean & press 220 on a 2" bar (just under my body weight) for 5 or I'm not leaving the gym.

Saturday the 345 stone is going to 48".

I'm getting ready to call out Poundstone ;)

Plus I want to look my best when I go to the LA Fitness Expo & have my picture taken with Becka Swanson - she's so hot.

Around here, the season starts immediately after football and other fall sports.

I did find a transfer student - a sophomore - that is 6'4" 345 lbs and can legitimately squat 570. He has never trained a day in his life either. :p

B-

if i understood that right, you found a guy that could squat 570 without any training? or did you find a guy that had never trained lifted before and then got him up to a 570 squat?

did he grow up on a farm? or with a family in the construction industry?

The kid has had NO training whatsoever.

And yes, he does live on a dairy farm.

Every morning his mom cooks him 5 eggs in bacon fat + all the trimming and milk right off the cows.

Here in WI the super heavyweight squat record is something around 700.

Oh, and the kid did the 570 with no belt wraps or suit. :)
