I have been having pains in my lower abs and I thought I had a hernia so I went into the doctor today and after a sonogram they determined I had seminoma.. I probably won't be on here for awhile, not that anyone cares, but please keep me in your prayers.. I am more than a little stressed out. It is believed to be in stage 1 so I should be okay.

Please keep the inappropriate jokes out of this thread or I'll fucking kill you.

Best wishes!

dude that shit is scary as fuck. Best of luck getting healthy. I would guess positive thinking has to help, think lance armstrong comeback or something.

I don't pray much anymore...but when something like this happens I always have a little chat with the old guy. Cancer touches many lives in many powerful ways...but there are also many brave/strong people that make triumphant comebacks...My $'s on you, not the cancer bro. Best wishes.

Best of luck to you and I hope you have a complete and speedy recovery. I had a bit of a scare similar to yours, but the sonogram revealed something else that was not a big deal to resolve.

You would have to be pretty tiwisted and or cruel to joke around about someone having testicular cancer.

I personally think that they should have to heat that sonogram gel to body temp before they put it on your nads

hopefully you get to keep both of yours and the cancer does not progress to other areas.

Sorry to hear your of your diagnosis.

I would check out the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

He came back after testicular cancer stronger.

WOW!

Sorry to hear this.

Best wishes.

sorry man--remember that Lance Armstrong had it and came back and kicked arse--as I am sure we all hope for you.

best of luck and be well!!

Do they know the cause, or is it more a genetic/random event? What are the possible treatments available?

I've had three surgeries (so far) for a reoccuring tumor in my middle/inner ear a couple years ago... the human organism is quite complex and random errors aren't unheard of, even in young age.

Only advice I can give is to pick up some specialty medical textbooks on subjects relating to your diagnosis and learn everything you can. This helps communication and understanding when it comes to treatment options.

removal of the testicle is almost unavoidable. has to be done in 99.9% of cases from what I understand. I have been on the internet reading all day.

I am going to see a couple other docs and specialists tomorrow.. did not give me the possibilities of how it occured.. I have been trying to find links to steroids and cancerous cells but can't really find anything.. about to head out to borders books and buy some books.. hard to concentrate now to even read or study on it.. my mind is going a million miles per hour

thanks everyone for supporting comments

Are they sure that's what it is? Did you get a second opinion? You'd hate to find out from someone else later that it was only something minor and be -1 nut.

Either way good luck and think positive!

That is scary as fuck bro....considering your age. you're not much older than me, so it really hits home

it started off with pain?

I hope for the best dude....you're be alright i know, but it's never easy.

Be well. Try not to beat yourself up. I graduated high school with a guy who had it at 15 or 16, there's a combination of factors that go into triggering cancer, and 90% of it is immune mediated.

I had a bunch of complications with the tumor spreading after the first and second surgeries, so I took a weekend and hit up the world-famous Mayo Clinic (in Minn.) to get some further expert opinions. If you find anything with your situation out of the ordinary or your doc(s) mention different variables presenting themselves that could potentially lead to complications, I would suggest hitting up a place like Mayo or other big-name clinic for an opinion.

Make sure the surgeon/specialist you will primarily deal with is communicative and is willing to take the time to talk to you and answer any questions. My second surgeon was horrible, and didn't tell me crap, even when I asked. Horrible experience, even though he was highly recommended by university faculty members. Don't be afraid to "shop around" for a doc you click with. It will be worth it.

Testicular cancer is a common form of cancer in males, kinda like breast cancer is for females. (What's with the reproduction systems being so prone to this?) It's generally not life-threatening, so there shouldn't be much concern there. But it will be annoying as fuck. I was diagnosed right before transferring to an expensive out-of-state university, and the multiple surgeries pretty much ruined my chance to stay there, as well as killing the ability to work out for quite some time. (Before the tumor ended up eating my ear drum away, I blew it out during a warm-up set of squats, even though it should have been healed at the one-month-after-surgery mark.)

Yeah, best you can do is make sure you're as informed as possible about the systems effected, general procedures and treatment options, medications, etc. I had a bitch of a time after my third surgery with my surgeon and various meds, so I'd suggest learning about the various drugs and their pharmacodynamics/kinetics, interactions, etc. Knowledge will totally be your key to making the best of a shitty circumstance. Don't think about "luck", think about medical facts and statistical probabilities. And every time you feel shitty, just take a look over in another room in the hospital at dudes stuck in wheelchairs -- things can always be worse.

Damn dude. Best of luck to you man. I'll def think of you from time to time - you've given me some good laughs on here. Keep us posted - some of us do give a shit.

My thoughts and prayers are with you right now! You are going to be just fine....Look at my hero Lance......His book was awesome...you should read it.....i think Stryker on here had it also and is doing well....Hang in there and remeber we are always here for you to talk to you and vent.......((((HUGS)))))

Sorry to hear it Bro.
There is a lot of info out there on different treatment methods, some are not nearly as damaging. Homework, homework, second opinion. Not every Dr. graduated with A's.

Stay strong, bro mang!

fuck man, my deepest sorrows that you have it. good news is that testicular cancer is very treatable and curable. my friend had stage 3 testicular cancer and he is ok now. he went to sloan-kettering. they fixed him right up. my best wishes go out to you and i hope a speedy full recovery for you. stay in touch and let us know how everything is going.

Also: I don't know where you live, but if you're near any top-ranking medical university, they can offer valuable input there, too. For example, if you lived near Johns Hopkins, they have one of the best med programs in the world, as well as many of the best doctors, surgeons, and specialists in the world. Places like this will often be more up-to-date on procedures, treatments, and the newest drugs, and have very experienced doctors who are leaders in their individual fields. Just a thought.

Sorry to hear bro..

i know some really good dudes who battled the big C and im sure will be willing to listen/talk

Will do. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Share the symptoms and warning signs w/ other board members so people can catch it before it goes beyond stage 1. Is pain present in the abdomen normal? Or you just have huge nuts?

All seriousness, best wishes bro.

Look on the bright side, you'll qualify for a legit scrip for testosterone for the rest of your life.

Just remember that it's times like this when life comes at you with it's best punches that you still need to stop for a laugh. In consideration of that:

That's just nutty man!

Don't worry you'll be back to ballin soon!

Think of it not as losing a boy but becoming more streamlined.

On a serious note. My deepest and most heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery man.

Cheers,
Scotsman

that really sucks, im sorry to hear it

that being said its not terminal, and as massive as it seems today (and it is massive) itll be something youre going to get over and get used to. its not going to bother you in a few months or whatever.

i know several people who have had the same thing, or testicles removed for one reason or other - 2 guys in motorbike accidents etc, so really, theres heaps of peopel out there that have the same outcome so try not to feel alone

the guy who got a stainless steel replacement testicle is a cunny funt. he sets off airport metal detectors then proudly pulls out his balls lol

Dammm I do'nt pray alot, but I will in this case.. I've lost a few very special people to cancer. Good luck bro you can beat this!!!
I've also known a good many I did not lose, so fight do not put your head down keep it up no matter what !!! You CAN do this.... Stay STRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As many have said, stay strong and stay positive! I wish you a full and speedy recovery!

I sympathize...I was diagnosed with two very serious illnesses in the last 5 months.
It's a journey for sure, but it will bring you to a much higher more spiritual place.
All I can suggest is research a lot about your illness, talk to others with your illness and join a support group.
Take your journey with strength and a positive attitude knowing the outcome with bring you to a much better place.
Good luck

J

Keep us informed as to your progress, you'll be fine...
Stay positive...

Stay positive, this won't kill you it will make you stronger. You're going to come back badder than ever.

not to take away from the seriousness of the matter, but i know two younger peeps who had this and everything worked out fine. both got one testicle removed, and both got the fake testicle to replace it (for looks).
this happened about ten years ago and both guys are 100% unfazed.
so i'm confident you'll be cool!
and one time i thought i had the same thing, a nut blew up in size.
i freaked, went to the doc, and it turns out it was an epdiymis (sp)

Ok I did a quick scan and didnt see a single Natty Anabolic reference in this thread. I'm so disappointed.

Natty had no balls...clockwork will still have one

Good luck CW....stay strong...get the surgery...you'll be back in no time

I got a 2nd opinion today and that had the same diagnosis.. I have been up all night trying to read about it and I am really lucky that I have the least aggressive kind there is and that they caught it so early.
I read some horrid cases of it spreading to kidneys and lungs when it goes untreated.
I appreciate all the support here as a lot of you guys I talk to more than some of my friends I know in person.

does anyone know or ever read anything linking cancer and steroids?

I have just heard around here that H.G-H. and some roids may stimulate a tumor's growth - but not bring the actual tumor on to begin with.

Feel me?

That's all sourced here though, nothing from a medical journal.

You're gonna be cool.

Holy crap..
Well I hope that you get through this alright..It is stage 1 so atleast you were smart enough to catch it in time before it got too bad. I wish nothing but the best. Take care of you!

awesome

All kidding aside, do please keep us informed regarding your prognosis, treatment, and progress.

Best of luck. I remember how scary it was when i found a lump there (turned out to be ok) but from wehat i remember it is very 'curable' and very rarely (if ever?) does it spread to the other testicle. You've caught it early so you should be fine and will be stronger because of it.

prayers and best wishes for you and your family..

only through adversity do we grow and change..

sorry your's has to be this type of disease..

I never took human growth hormone - somatropin - ... testosterone enanthate, testosterone propionate, Dianabol - methandrostenolone - , Turanabol and Deca-Durabolin - nandrolone decanoate -

Neither did Tom Green.

I had a lump on my ball once. She was like 180 pounds easily.

you're totally gonna be ok man.

you're probably going to lose a nut, but you'll be back to 100% a couple weeks after that.

all you gotta worry about now is do you want a fake ball or do you want to sport the uniball.

one of my really good friends just got his removed, he's married so he's sporting the uniball, but he recovered 100% and he is probably about the same age as you.

I have nothing but confidence that you'll be alright my friend.
