I'm fairly knowledgable on the subject, so I would say his dad has. His attitude that woman are property isn't natural, its something learned from whomever. Most likely the father figure. My father has landed himself a life sentence for murdering his wife. Shortyly after her death, I read as much as I possibly could so I didn't end up being a peice of shit like him. Being raised in that environment, it took tons of energy to change the way I thought. People will minimize their actions so they don't sound so bad. Such as, I didn't close fist punch her, I opened hand slapped her. They will also blatantly deny their actions. Such as she fell down. Then they will use intimidation so the woman will vouch for him. Finally they blame the other person. Such as, if she hadn't cheated on me, my knife would have stabbed her 50 times in the back. We as people have many choices in life. The choice to leave is the most overlooked. Check out the duluth domestic abuse wheel. It puts things into better perspective.

IF he meant she should have left, then I'm wrong about his remarks. I just don't think thats what he meant. I could be wrong. Woman don't "allow" anything to happen, they are often intimidated or threatened to stay. So there's not much validity to that point either.

I've known 3 women in this type of situation & each one said the man had many wonderfull qualities. Except occasionally the guys like to beat them. The one guy had a chronic abuse problem, psychological, physical & sexual. Each woman stayed until she couldn't take it any more. They should have left at the first slap, the first demeaning insult, or the first coerced sexual incident. But they stayed because they thought they could keep the guy calm, or they thought they could change the guy with their love.
In any case people should not suffer any kind of abuse from the one that supposedly loves them.
