how much can you bench ??

  • Thread starter Thread starter Victor

i am 245 lbs right now and got 515 for 2 clean reps 2 days ago. i trained for powerlifting exclusively for years though, before switching to bodybuilding.

anthony clark did 805 with a reverse grip but was later disqualified for using the reverse grip. still did 805 in my book though.

Just so some of you fellas can feel better about yourself, I'll tell you a little story. When I was still in high school we went to a weight meet. Since I was a senior, I couldn't participate, so I spotted while my football coach ran one of the benches. There was a kid there about 6'4" and 300lbs (I was 6' 235lbs and one of the biggest guys there.) Everyones warming up w/ 135. This kid gets down there, unracks the bar, and lowers it. Then he looks me right in the eye and says "Help." I was like WTF? He says "Get it off of me, I can't get it."
BTW, I'm now 24 yrs old, 6', 265lbs. I'm in wk 8 of a Omna/Dbol cycle. My best bench workout ever was last week.
315x5 (stopped)
335x5 (stopped)
355x4 (failure)
The Saturday before I blew out my 2nd bench shirt (this was a dbl ply) doing 365. I eventually got 385 raw.

fuck you you fat fuck. i powerlifted competitvely for years. you bench over 600 naturally? kiss my ass. dont get pissed because there are people out there with a waist size under 40 who can bench 500. where the fuck do you live? on a mountain in alaska? a 500 pound bench is not that rare anymore. jesus, you fat fucks never cease to amaze me. shut the fuck up and set some records with your natural ass. idiot.

I did 253 lbs X 5 without help when I used testovrion at 500mg/week & Winstrol Depot some weeks ago...

My stats: 5.8" ? (176cm), 198 lbs (90kg)

Aiming for 290 lbs (3-5 reps) when I'll start my Anadrol + primo cycle....

well 5.11" 215lbs and do 2x330lbs strict..ass to the bench ,stop at
the cheast etc...

I thought I was realtive strong but looking at these post....

Well,welll...

Tom

In the spirit of all weaklings like me out there.....
Unless you have a tatoo of how much you bench on your chest, when you take off your shirt, no body will ever know. Do good form as I am sure most of you do.
:D :D :D
I could only do 225 for 3 but 4 weeks into my cycle i got 225 for 10. Max went from about 245 to around 280. Not all that great considering I am now 6'0 @197 but I'm happy with it!

My roommate on the other hand is strong as all hell.(at least to me) he's 5'9 180 and did 330 for a set of 4 the other day....

My bench blows, but I've been doing dumbbells lately with better success... Before I went on Cipro (antiobiotic they prescribed me for ear infections, which can cause tendon tears so i dropped my weight) I was doing sets of 5 with 110lbs dumbbells... I'm going to start benching again soon to switch up my workout somewhat, hopefully it'll be better than my last bench(which i consider too pathetic - for me - to be posting)...

Actually, he was DQ'd b/c his spotter touched the weight before the judge called rack. Reverse grip is legal in competition to the best of my knowledge.

Also, you are correct about the 500lb bencher not being all that big a rarity. However, people who can do that weight in a sanctioned meet are not all that common.

Big Kev why are you so pissed at genarr3? He couldn't have meant you as your post wasn't even up yet!! Anyhow read some of these posts and you can tell there bullshit. Just look at there ages and other details that discredit what they are saying. But there are also some like yourself that are believable. Anyhow relax bro and you are right 500lbs isn't that unheard of just like 515 x 2 isn't!!!!! PEACE!!!!

1) I never said I benched 600
2) I'm not a fat fuck I weigh 230 6' - 34" waist.
3) Who said I was natural?
4) When I say 500+ did you see the "+" sign? And yes I mean in sanctioned meets. As far as gym lifts go, if a shirt isn't mentioned I assume it wasn't used. And yes, 500+ raw is rare.
5) No I don't live in Alaska, I follow powerlifting religiously.
6) Anyone that really was into powerlifting would have recognized the antavar as Brent Mikesell's world record breaking 1041lb squat. October 7, 2001.
7) As John Woe said my post wasn't directed at you, you hadn't even posted yet.
8) I'll once again post the "All Time World Records". That's All time. The elite. The Michael Jordans of powerlifting. http://www.powermagonline.com/latest-news/records.asp
I'll post my real numbers done at 198lbs, natural at the time 2 years ago:
Squat 500
Dead 550
Bench 410(poly shirt)
3 White lights on all 3 lifts. They aren't world-breaking numbers, but they are true. I have been on gear only the past year, hence the extra 30lbs(but not as lean as 198, I dried out to get there).
I will compete at 220 in the Spring/Summer. I'll post my new numbers when I do them.

you call us "roidheads" and patronize us like children. i to follow powerlifting, not as closely as i used to , but enough to know whats going on. i am personal freinds with anthony clark and his brothers, jonathan and larry. i am sure there are guys here on the board who exaggerate there lifts, but there are bros here who are strong, we dont know who we are talking to, radar could be chris coffesore for all we know. have you seen super sports pics? guy a monster. this board is here to uplift the bros, not beat them down. it pisses me off when people post there negative bullshit on this board , trying to belittle someone. i am 100% securewith myself, i dont need t cut others down to make myself feel like a man. i stand by everything i print here. if i am wrong, i will be the 1st to post an apology, in open forum. in tis case, and apology is not in order. big ups to all the bros who posted there lifts here. stay big and get strong.

Not that much...

I'm 5'5" and 155Lbs. And my max is 205 for 3 reps....
Thats good for me! I'm damn proud of it too. You should have seen where I came from.
I like lifting.:D :heks: :bat:

'Roids in Powerlifting

I never said there weren't roids in the PL circuit. I just meant they make the sport DANGEROUS and SLEAZY. I hate roids and roid-users piss me off, especially at the amateur level, where I lift.

I mean, we get a MEDAL! Not money! Why do they they stack to compete with us? It ain't teh olympics!

YES! It means...

something to me! It means I trained and worked and thought and pushed myself to be stronger than the next person. I didn't need chemical help...We've had lifts in our league in a world-class range WITHOUT one drop of juice (although we have caught a few cheaters). I just upsets me to see someone work that hard and some little Roidhead comes along and puts up 550 pounds and outdoes someone who puts up 500 pounds NATURALLY, without cheating.

Can you understand this?

you guys got some big fucking benches....

little me:

232 lbs @ 6 foot and roughly 10% bf

bench

incline: 315 for 9
405 for almost (i mean almost) 1....3 days ago

flat: 315 for 12-15
365 for 6
440 for 1 (i have a weird strength curve)

but bench ain't my strongpoint:

35-40 pullups, 12 with 100 pounds on the waist

275 for 9 on the overhead barbell press, in front of head though cause i'm a bitch and my shoulders bother my behind the head

legs are my weakpoint:

365 for 8 ASS TO THE GRASS!!!!!
405 for 5 ASS TO THE GRASS!!!!!

5'11, 195-200, my max right now is 320. Best I ever did was 350 (I was using cell tech and nortestin at the time - really - I was!). I am 2 weeks into cycle - so I am gonna shott for getting back to 350. I rep 225 right now 18 times. When I maxed at 250, I repped it 28 times. Personally, I don't think I am strong, and I definitely don't think I am big, other people are noticing the gains though which makes me feel better =)

I am one of those guys that - ok, I get up to 210 bodyweight and bench 400, I will still feel small, and next would shoot for 225 and 450.

currently weigh 218 6' 10% pressing 350 can use 100 lb. dumbbells for sets of 10. and yes i am a newbie to this board.

i hardly ever try a max, last year i put up 400 twice, i usually stick two a 3 sets of ten with 315. but most of the time i cant get 10 on the last set. 6' 230 around 11%bf

I CAN BENCH 3O5 8 TIMES AND I CAN;T WAIT TOG ET SOME GEAR AND SEE WHERE THAT NUMBER MIGHT END UP!!! nO CLUE WHAT MY ONE REP MAX IS THOUGH,

Trying to get up there!

Before my Gear I was Benching 235 two times as my max. I am 5' 8" and weigh 162. Will post my max in 7 more weeks.

when you guys say how much you bench, do you include the bar aswell. How much does a standard bar weigh? I think it weighs about 20kg.

I can bench 140 kg =(315 pounds) inc the bar for 2 reps at 6 foot and 245 pounds.

later

i am 5'8, 173lbs. I could do 245 before cycle. am 5weeks into cycle now, and did 225, 3 sets of 4 the other day.. is that good for my weight, my roomates are bigger than me so I still feel weak lifting with them.

Done only 2 cycles (sust 250 for 6 wks) my whole life. Last one was in April 02 and at
6'0 , 192 lbs 15% BF, flat benched 275 x 2 reps, 225 x 12 reps.

Goal now, doing more incline than flat, 225 x 3 reps - at 185 lbs
flat bench, 225 x 6-8 reps.

"How much can you bench"?
Thats a highschoolers question anyways. Benching is a POOR indication of your overall strength.

Right now I am down to 296 and my bench reps have only been at 315 for 10 , but during my last cycle I was 320 and doing 405 for 4 and maxing at 455. I just turned 21 and I am 6'5, I know my genetics play a big part.

I am 5'9" and weigh 195lbs with about 12% bf. About a month ago I did 315 for 5 reps, but that was while I was on tren...probably have difficulty doing it for 5 reps now.

ok well im officially the weakest member on the board, but hell, at least im being honest. I'm 6'0 180lbs, 9%, and I do 2 plates for 4-5 reps, not that it even matters who can bench what.

I can do 5 push ups. Does that count??

Yeah, yeah they're girly pushups on my knees but I'll get to regular pushups some day I just KNOW IT!

I am 200lb, 13.3%bf, and I di 205 for 2 at the begining of the summer............that is a 20lb increase over last summers max

FOCUSED

I usually bench 365 for 2-4 reps. I just turned 20, 6.1, 210lbs and about 10%. My strength has dropped though due to I was on DNP for two weeks whch weekend me but nothing some fina shouldnt beable to fix in September.:D

What supplements do you take ,vitamins ?? If you take ANY and the man next to you is not taking any you could be cheating ,thats how i look at it juice is no different!!!

6'1 365 for reps 405 for max also did fly's w/ 90lbs dumbells for reps.now i am 5 months post therapy from a major shoulder tear.be careful whatya wish for.

This is one of those threads that you cant help but post on.

Im 5 '10 215 lb

At the end of my my bench last week 3 sets 315lb 4 to 6 times then I did 345 twice. All reps slow and clean no bounce or arch.

Sartan Is God! :freak:

Age:22
Height:5'9
Weight: 182
bench: 295 for 6 not sure what my max is. Bench is my weakest exercise though and I would be alot higher but I have nobody to train with or spot me.

JFURY27 and I are training partners but havent been training lately due to conflicting schedules but the last time we were in our best shape we were reping 315 to start, and we would end around 350,

My personal best is 365 for 3 reps, while on sustenon 750mgs/week Primobolan 300mgs/week and 30mgs dbol/day

5' 9 218lbs 5% bf-
JFURY@& is about 5-4, 5-5 and about 200 lbs have seen him around 220....looking good

We are both 23 and 24

EAT..EAT...EAT!

:bawling:
I feel like a weakling compared to some!! I'm 5'7 180lbs and I can bench 275 for a few reps....that's my max for now! Goal is to be at 300 by November, AND I have yet to do a cycle yet!

5'11, 215lb last week did 340 3 times to finish out my workout, haven't been on a cycle for some time though

Im 22 I did 460 at a Bench Press Competition last week hoping to get 500 by X-Mas! Wish Me luck!! I was about 5 weeks out post cycle

I've always been a crappy bencher (shoulders, 6'2"), I went from about 265 to 320 on 10 weeks sust @ 250mg, almost all my gains were from one or two weeks where I ate like a pig (pizza), gained about 11 pounds in that one week, yes I gained fat that week as well. I prefer dumbells mostly.

he benches 800 huh? and whats this fellows name cause thats pretty far-fetched

thats not all that good, i benched 305 before ever doing a cycle and I weighed 180 at 5' 8"

Who me? Thats why I said "I've always been a crappy bencher". I've been working out seriously since may. I'm 6'2", if I were 2 foot tall I'm sure I'd be a great bencher.

Get ready to flame away, but I've no fucking idea what wearing a shirt has to do with your bench press. Are you referring to whether or not you can see if the person is arching? If not I'm clueless.

I've never lifted in any formal competiton and after you see my numbers you'll know why :)

10 Years ago 5'11 175lbs Max Bench was 295, however I was a Pitcher for baseball, and a setter for a college volleyball team so bulk wasn't really good for my speed and flexibility.

Now 5'11 192lbs Benching 235 sets of 6, guessing max to be around 275. Dumbells flat using 75's-80's.

I've never truly tried to bulk up, this will be my first attempt to bulk up and add a ton of strength, prior experience in lifting was for speed, and quickness more than straight up power and size.

Hoping to be at about 215 by Christmas benching 315's or so.

There are bench shirts you can buy, custom for whatever your size is. Powerlifters use em, basically its just a tight as hell shirt.

Weight 210

100 X 11 dumb bells
105 X 8 dumb bells

I do not do them anymore....

I used to be a bench freak pileing on as much weight as I could do...I have my own opinion about flat barbell benching which I do not feel like debating....

Strickly Incline and flat dumbell press, flyes....It's all about the inner muscle feeling....

BIZ!!

Yep, the bench is an ego lift, just like "how big are your arms", but thats what people want to know.

TheBandit If your 15 years old and bench 250lbs, I dont believe it. Need pictures to prove. Your surely not Little Hercules.

191lbs 12-13%BF Age: 20

Bench: 100 dbells 11 reps

Note to anyone who cares:

I recently had these stats:
183lbs 12-14%BF (Aug 2002)
Bench: 100 dbells 2 reps

I reduced my volume (basically following Iron Addict's HIT plan from got fina message boards) and am up to my current stats. I'm a big fan of it. Peace.

PS The training includes the 20 rep squats and I love 'em. I know it's not much but i'm up to 225lbs for 20reps.

It's possible..I know a kid who was around that size at 16 and he could max at around 250-265. Impressive for a short stalky guy who never got off the creatine.

Waldo...don't be so quick to dismiss Bandit's claim. My brother is 15 years old, 6' tall, 186, and can bench 230. He could probably bench a lot more if he did low-rep sets....currently he only drops below 6 reps to attempt a max.
