how is Natural peanut butter different than Skippy?

Nobody seems to be able to answer this on the diet discussion board (so far over 90 people have looked at it and no definite answers). So, I thought I would post it here where everyone seems to go.

When you look at the back of natural peanut butter and skippy (or any other brand) the nutritional info is exactly the same or very close. Both have the same amount of sugar and fat, so what is the difference? Why is natural PB better than skippy?

I know natrual PB is made out of peanuts and salt, but the nutritional info is almost exactly the same as skippy.

Someone please help. Sorry for posting on the wrong board, but I just want an answer.

Skippy has hydrogenated fats. Natural peanut butter doesn't, thats why it seperates when left at room temp

which is basically exactly what i posted on the diet board... do a search on hydrogenated/trans fats....you'll see why they are no good for human consumption :)

You'd be a fool to choose skippy over natural peanut butter. You basically taking away all the good fats in peanuts and replacing it with shit. And also skippy and the like taste like ass compared to regular peanut butter...

Hydrogenation- the process of adding hydrogen to unsaturated fatty acids to make fat more solid and resistant to the chemical change of oxidation

Hydrogenation creates trans-fatty acids which in turn act like saturated fats in the body.

I've got a little more info, but that's about the gist of it.
