How do you cheer up?

1) read a good book
2) do something outdoors (ride a bike, go for a hike)
3) learn something new (hobby, sport, etc.)
 
It depends what I need cheering up about.

If it's self inflicted in some way, I just end up getting to a point where I'm disgusted and things need to change. So I get motivated and do everything to make my life Better. Working towards that always cheers me up

If its external or out of my hands, I either take a trip somewhere, spend time with my friends and go out or i crack out to some video games.

Where do you wanna be?
Envision it and then make your future come to reality.
Leaving bumblefuck would probably be a good start, but you need skills to do that.
 
say fuck everyone and be selfish. im in the same boat dude. i just gotta deal with some stuff to not fuck anyone else over with some financial stuff. but i would recommend some straight up selfish shit. start by eating your favorite thing in the world, fuck the cals and sugars/fats/whatever else. then go do something that you want to do that you have been held back from for awhile. sky dive, new car, something for ur current car. do someting assholish. break someones window u dont like. these little adrenaline rushes will tide u over till u think of something grand. i read a post recently about someone who decided to get divorced. said it was the hardest thing in the world to do but after 6 months he was a new man, everything was great in life. get rid of ur girl, or if u dont have one get one. dont want one get a hooker.

Look at the five people you spend the most time with. If they don't reflect where you want to be, or don't add something to your life that is meaningful, ditch them and spend time with people who are more like you.
It's that crab in a bucket scenario, if they see you heading up to the edge of the bucket to escape, they'll just drag you back down to the bottom of the bucket. If you have no friends, it's probably because you're not putting yourself out there. And I don't mean a bar ;)
Change it up, get excited about something, go do it. Join a fun group of people who do something you like, whether that is a recreational sport league,, poker players, cooking school or a dance class. You'll know it when you find it.

Me too, nothing like the high you get after a good workout...
When I feel down my kids cheer me up, I take them to the park or we do some outdoor activities and just seeing them play & be happy, puts things back in perspective..

this^^^^is also my remedy...along with just sitting on the couch and having a cold (zero-carb) cocktail (powerade zero and jim beam), playing my guitar (working on some finger-picked james taylor songs, right now) and chit-chatting with my wife...then banging the snot outta her...always life affirming :)

but, since you don't have any kids (or a wife) i'd take the "selfish" advice someone else gave.

i only asked because some of my friends over the years have gotten bored/fed-up/what-have-you with their regular career and, while they were still young enough (there are age cut-offs for a lot of govt jobs) went a different route...fbi, cia, u.s. marshalls, irs criminal investigators, etc...they all love their jobs, they get paid pretty damn good, they have great benefits and a great pension...but, all of them were college grads and most of them had prior military experience.

I dont need to cheer up, I just keep walking, I pretty much think life suck and then you die, but I'm not a quitter and I am stubborn so I just keep going hoping for the worst and bask in the good moments since they are unexpected :)
 
wait for the next rapture or 2012 or whatever is after that one. eventually someones gotta destroy yhe world then no more suffering
 
Find positive places to meet people and hang out (coffee house, church, fun sports bar, cigar shop, gym). I always try to find fun happy company for friends. I don't have any friends who are negative nancies

Self identification/reflection sometimes opens doors that nothing else will. Accepting things for yourself and who you are, rather then living in fantasy land denial really bring out the best in people. Not applicable to all obv
