How Bad is FAT for hard gainers

If you're an ectomorph and gaining muscle mass is much more of a problem than fat retention, how much do you need to worry about your fat intake (especially during a cycle)?

I'm already doing tuna and boiled eggs for breakfast, which gives me lots of protein, but not so much in the way of calories.

I'm trying to boost my caloric and protein intakes during my cycle. And it's seems really tempting to just add 2 double quarter pounders with cheese and a large vanilla shake for lunch to my diet since that adds a whopping 120 grams of protein and 2660 calories to my daily total.

The only downside is that it also adds 62 grams of saturated fat to my diet...

Opinions?

The key-for me anyway-has been never to eat fats and carbs together in the same meal-worst case sugar and sat fats.
Essential fats are needed for muscle growth.
I eat essential fats and protein or protein and complex carbs and avoid simple sugars and saturated fats when I can most of the time.
Personally I would add if you don't already do this
2-3 tspoons extra virgin olive oil or flax oil to your shakes to up the calories and reap the benefits of the essential fats.
I don't believe a calorie is a calorie, I eat a ton of cals but don't concentrate on that-just on complex proteins, carbs, and EFA's and meal combinations to control bfat gain. Even as a mesomorphic type, I would gain a lot more fat on burgers and fires and cookies than on 2,000 more cals a day on proteins comp carbs and EFA's.

FISH OIL!

Probably the best EFA out there. I take 2-3Tbs/day of it.
 
If you're a hard gainer you really shouldn't have to worry about fat. You just need plenty of protein and high calories. If you start getting fatter than you would like, analyze your diet and scale back on the junk food that you don't need. Depends how much of a hard gainer you are.
 
Would a few peanut butter sandwiches do the trick for you? I understand that this amy not be the best way, but it's tons better than the quarter pounders.
 
I'm the oposite. I'm not a hard gainer and I gain bf very easily, however I have no trouble doing a high fat diet while bulking without gaining bf. I agree with the statement of not mixing carbs and fat together when bulking. If you chose to eat both every day, you might wish to eat your carbs early in the morning, then carb load post workout for recovery then cut the carbs for the rest of the day and eat alot of fat and protien. Not eating enough fat, especially efa's will cut into your gains a great deal, steroids or otherwise. In fact, high fat diets tend to greatly lower shbg, thus enhancing the effectiveness of the gear. You'll have a much higher free testosterone level.
 
I'm an extreme ecto. For what it's worth I'd say eat everything and anything in sight.......for us ecto's our biggest problem is always going to have enough cals surplus to use for lean gains after our furnace like motabolisms have gobbled 'em up. As long as it's not just crap that you are eating but a high quality diet aided by the junk food I can't see that you'd be going too far wrong. And look at it this way, even if you do add a few pounds round your middle as well, at least we have the headstart on those endo's and meso's as far as ease of getting it off again !!!

I disagree. The biggest problem for ecto's I know seems to be getting enough clean calories. They try to make up for their lack of hunger by eating nutritionally void junk they will not contribute to their gains, and end up not getting what they need. All of the ectos I know who can't gain eat alot of junk. The few I know who manage to make decent gains eat clean, even though they have trouble cramming it down. Try to cram down more unprocessed food. If you have to a jar of natural pb has about 2600 cals and 110 grams of protien. Its small and could be eaten in one sitting if one were so inclined to do so, but you should probably split it up over 3 meals.
