So I bit my tongue the other day. Like bad. I felt it crunch bad and it bled. So anyhoo, it's been hurting since and has felt like a canker sore or whatever it is that you get when you eat a ton of tomatoes. I woke up this morning and it's swollen and hurts like a mofo. It kind of feels like I have swolen glands in my neck on the side it hurts. I use listerine maybe 3 times per day and have been using it more since I bit myself. Should I get it checked out? I can't eat anything and it's really getting in the way of me becoming the fattest man in the world.

The tongue heals VERY WELL. My sister fell from the monkey bars when she was 10. She was hanging upside down. She bit her tongue completely off and broke her jaw in 4 places. The tongue was sewed back on. Now her speech is fine and you can't even see the scar. It is pretty amazing. Unless it gets infected, it will heal right up, most likely.

The listerine is a good idea. Don't eat dairy until it heals, either.

how did you bite it? sounds bad, if its the front 1/4th, dont worry and it will be fine keep doing what your doing and quit being a pussy and find a way to eat, but if its on the 3/4ths back end, then go to the DR cause you could possible choke on your own tongue

HR is right, the tongue heals quickly. It’s rare to get an infection from a lacerated tongue.
J, you're going to this is wacky, but too bad, you already think I'm a boo-boo, but I know my stuff. Rinse with some warm water and aspirin. DO not use peroxide unless it's food grade.
You can also buy oil or oregano drops and gargle with that then swallow.
It cost $15 for a small bottle but it lasts for a long time.
Oil or Oregano can be used for ALL viral and bacterial infections.
