Isn't he from a wealthy suburban household? That alone is minus 5 on the street-cred, I survived hell and now plan on rapping about my success scale.

Take what chance? Assassinate the president? Please, you are being silly...lol. It's not like I'm a big Kanye fan, but his comment was a hoot. That comment probably made the telethon much more profitable...lol. Otherwise, it was a snooze fest.

You calling me "silly" as opposed to bringing up valid points to argue my points is "silly". Well done.

You must live a pretty sheltered life is someone calling Bush a racist is an exciting comment. I must here that 10 times a day.

Oh, get a grip. If we had a black, liberal president and some white musician came on TV during and telethon and made an impromptu comment that the pres didn't care about white people, making the station go to commercial break and leaving an outspoken comedian speechless, you would line up to high five him and think it was funny.

Regardless of whether it is true or not, it gave everyone something to laugh about, whehter you laugh at Kanye or laugh at the president.

Lighten up. You have been squealing like a little girl all day...lol.

His mother was the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University before becoming his manager. His father was also an award winning photojournalist.[1]

<sarcasm>Yeah, he's from the hood.</sarcasm>

Who cares if he is from the hood? Creative license is the name of the game. Stephen King didn't actually have anyone kill everyone at his prom with telepathy. Man O War (I threw that in for Samoth) hasn't actually disemboweled anyone. Nellie Furtado isn't actually "like a bird." lol. Who gives a shit?

I don't even know what left or right winger means, but I will say this - his audience is CERTAINLY NOT "black folks". He's not stupid. He markets himself very clearly to white suburbanites as well. The hip hop game and the wealthier white peeps are NOT mutuall exclusive anymore...and havne't been for quite a while.

Also, back to my other points, he is just one of millions that say the same things about Bush. He just tried to make himself into some modern day martyr with his bullshit no-balls comments. Let's see him take a chance - then we'll talk.

How would one be stupid for catering to your own kind?
It's not stupid , it's called being real. The fact is younger white folks especially college age kids tend to be left winged. Go to any college in this country. I bet you find anti Bush graphiti on many road signs and buildings around campus. It's not his fault that younger white folks like rap music. It's also not Kanye's fault that even conservatives can actually see a derelict president when one is in office.

I wasn't saying that it would be stupid for him to cater to his "black folks" - I was saying it would be stupid to NOT also cater to white folks, which he CERTAINLY does. lol @ "being real". Define that for me please.

White kids liking his music is not just "by chance". It is a direct byproduct of the way he markets himself - from his clothes, to his lyrics, to his appearances, etc.

I don't give a shit about politics and don't ever plan on it - so I won't address any of that. It's just another form of segregation - actually, it's probably the WORST and most EXTREME form of segregation in this country and world.

THIS is what's wrong with rap. THIS is why rap sucks now. Because you need STREET CRED to rap. So that translates into, the more you've fucked around with the law, the more you've fucked around being a dumb shit, the better rapper you are. 50 cent solidifyied this system like a motherfucker when he came professing his getting shot 9 times ordeal. Sent ja rule right out the window and now rap is following him. The cycle needs to be broken if true artists are to emerge.

As for Kanye, I like him and have much respect for him. He's better than so many other producers out there in that he's trying to ADVANCE rap music. He's trying to make it better and add element to it. You can see what I mean from his first album to his second. the difference is clear. His raps are improving with every track. Infact, he's becoming better than many other top mc's simply because of his work ethic. He wants the world for fucking real.

As for what he says or how he acts -- I'm fine and dandy with it all. I respect the fact that he stands behind his principles and beliefs through and through. Whether what he says is right or wrong is for you to judge.
