herniated disc in back and deadlifts

was doing my deadlifts on this past Sunday using the conventional grip, while coming up on one of my lifts for some stupid ass reason I lost concentration and lifted my but up first, thus putting all the stress on my lower back. Needless to say I heard my back pop(hurt like hell) and I have been unable to really move freely since.

I injured my disc back in highschool, but this has never stopped me in the past from powerlifting, playing football, whateva. Hell, I was a junior in Highschool deadlifting 500lbs, but this shit right is really uncomfortable right now, normally when this happens I am down for about 1wk to 1 1/2 wks. Anybody got any suggestions on good rehab exercises and/or preventing this type of thing again..I refuse to stop deadlifting...I did read where the sumo grip is less taxing on the lower back..?????

Don't be stupid

take a little time off altogether. See a GOOD Chirocpractor (ask aorund), maybe get an MRI if need be and take it from there. I herniated a disc once and tried to keep lifting, even lifting stupid things at work. Prolonged everything. Went to the doc, found out the deal and all...went back to the gym the very first day i felt better and BOOM pain again. Had to prolong things again. I was out like 6-8 weeks instead of maybe 3-4. Be smart, be healthy and be safe. Take my advice. Time off, chiropractor, MRI.

thankx for the advice..I actually got an appointment with Texas spine doctors(or something like that) next week. I have been to 1 chiropractor and to a back specialist that performed surgery on my mom's back..They both gave an mri, gave me a series of steroid injections, shock therapy for about 2 weeks and told me to take it easy, but they both also recommended surgery or just deal with it and take it easy. I declined the surgery. The doctor I have an appontment with is saying they have some treatment that puts the disc back into place and take the stress off it w/out surgery......I shall see

good luck bro, hope things go well for you. remember to listen to your body and take some time if you need it.
