Hammer Strength Leg Press, Really works the glutes!

I changed up my leg routine yesterday and did the Hammer Strength leg press instead of squats. It was a great workout and I got some intense isolation for my quads, but I also feel it in my glutes today. They are as sore and tight as hell! More so than when I do regular squats.

I also like the Hammer Strength lying leg curl. Those are awesome machines, I'm glad my gym bought them.

Does anyone else use these?

what does it look like?

most of my gyms stuff is custom built so ill have to look fpr a simialr machine

I love working my glutes! to get that bubble but look..lol :D Changing up your routine to shock the muscle will always give you good results. I do squats, lunges, leg press, extensions, curls, and abductor and adductor machines. They're all good:D

The Hammer Strength machines are great! They are like free weights and you have to load up the plates on either side, but it is better because you have to work each muscle (left or right) independently. They have machines like that for bench press, leg press, leg curls, and just about all the major movements.

IMO, it was the change itself that made you "feel it" in your legs, not the leg press. Leg presses are great, but they are no substitute for squats in the long run.

The leg curls are great ham isolation excercises. I switch off between the lying and standing machines.

I hear what you're saying, but I think with the Hammer Strength leg press it hits the glutes more effectively than squats, especially when you adjust the seat so that your knees are up around your ears in the down position. Also if you do one leg at a time with very heavy weight, you do more intensive isolation, I believe.

Agreed. But I'd still never substitute them for squats. Actually, I think doing both on leg day would be a good idea. Also, another great ham/butt excercise is stationary lunges. You might give them a try.

I'll try it GT, but I don't know if I'll be able to leave the gym under my own power!

LOL!!! Nonsense. You no faith. Remember, crawling out of the gym on leg day means you did it right. Besides, you can take solace in the fact that you'll feel MUCH worse the next day.

p.s. my gym's abdominal workout area is on the first floor, free weights on the bottom. i hate leg day as i have to go up and down a full flight of stairs.

on the plus side, if your in the ab room you can just about see inside the female changing room :D
