IMHO this is determined by the age of the younger party. A 20 year old with a 30 year old is not quite the same as a 40 year old with a 50 year old.

my beau is 8 years younger than me. Though I thought and said over and over, I would never date younger... hell... look at me now. LOL. I've since learned that a number is just a number, what is behind that number is what matters. I don't look at him and see his age, I look at him and see a person that loves me and treats me like a queen and I treat him like a king. He is amazing with my kids, and our relationship is more than I could have ever asked for. Age has no factor at all.

But, I can tell you a little about this.
I was 27 when I started dating my 19 y/o g/f. Alot of people were here for the entire story... anyway... she got prego about 6 months into it and we had a child 17 months ago.
We got married about 5 months ago. We're now getting divorced.
The reason: She had me, her family, even herself convinced she could be happy with a child and married. I just turned 30, she just turned 22. Her age has caught up with her and she wants to have the freedom most 21/22 y/o's have and that is simply not compatible with being married and having a child.

You dont look hard enough, rob. My past gf (31) and current gf (36) were both attractive, never married no kids no drama and never give me any shit. They arent bitchy because they havent fucked their lives up by marrying the wrong guy and getting knocked up. What they are is appreciative of good guys now that they have dated all the jackasses and realized they dont offer what they really want and need. Having married ONE JERK has taught me what is acceptable and what is totally UNACCEPTABLE in a man. That is why I waded through a sea of men that were less than acceptable and kept right on "passing" until I found my current husband.
I busted my ass to take care of my family all of these years because I would not settle for anything less than AMAZING when it came to who would be stepfather to my children and lifepartner for me.
I am nearing 40. Had only one previous marriage from which all my children came. THE ONLY BAGGAGE we had is their father, my exhusband. <-----my current husband's attitude? "ex-husband who?"
This is a lot to ask ANY MAN to take on, let alone one that is younger than me, especially were he never married or had children of his own. And just one of the reasons why I opted to date men that were older and more experienced in life.
Personal choices.... We all have to do what works for us because at day's end it is OUR life.

As if it's any of your business, but me and the girl are still close friends to this day. Neither her mom nor her dad had a problem with us dating. She will gladly tell you I treated her the best she has ever been treated.
Currently she has a college education, full time job, getting married soon, drug free and no kids. So safe to say she certainly wasn't traumatized by the event.
