Well, as a member of the rAw/R1 training center in El Segundo, CA I can tell you that it was a very devastating lost for all of us, not the least for Frank Trigg. He pulled out all the stops for this one -- put his heart and soul, and not to mention blood preparing for this match. It was make or break for him. At 32 years old now was his time. When you are the best you've ever been. Probably the best you'll ever be -- and it's still not enough... well, there goes your dreams. Everything that you lived for. When you get the three most dominate positions on your opponent: side control then ground and pound, mount position with more ground and pound, then you get his back and go for the choke, and during all that mayhem your opponent temporarily loses consciousness -- and still you can't put him away... He recovers to do his trademark carrying you over his shoulders and slams you to the mat, now he gets side control and GnP's, mounts and more GnP's and then your back to choke you out. I have to hand it to Matt. He is one tough MoFo. Few mortals can come back like that after taking such punishment.
It wasn't me but I can't get this out of my mind. To do everything that can possibly be done. To be at the very top of your game -- and it just isn't enough. It must be devastating. Your life long dreams just crushed in mere minutes. Such is life. There can be only one.
