For losing weight, yay or nay?

day1
220 grams protein
200 grams carbs

day2
220g protein
150g carbs

day3
220g protein
100g carbs

day4
220g protein
400g carbs

day5
rinse and repeat

What are your guys' opinions on this diet for losing body fat while doing rep schemes of 15+ 3 times per week when lifting, and also 3-5 days of cardio (30+ minutes) per week? Should there be a number of fat grams for content or not?

Yes you will lose "weight", but I don't think it will be the kind you want. You are not eating enough, plus you cut out all fat, which is a no no. To lose fat you should eat around your BMR (bodyweightx12). Now that would be a start, however, I would look into doing a CKD diet. It will help you maintain more, if not all, your muscle while losing a good 1-2 lbs of fat per week if done correctly.

WAY too little calories on some days, and way TOO many carbs on others. You might lose "weight" but not bodyfat, unless you implement amazing amounts of cardio. I would say you need to stick to basic high protein ratios, if that is what you're looking for: 50%protein/20%carbs/30%fat....calories should be at weight x 12.

where does most of the fat content in your CKD diet come from? and also, is that the diet you personally use (your favorite?) for losing body fat?

Re: ./....ttjkfghjsdf

most fat comes from meats and EFA's (essential fatty acids)

and also, is that the diet you personally use (your favorite?) for losing body fat?

why would someone recommend something if it's not their favorite, yes it's a favorite of a LOT of people to lose weight

Read my CKD manual, it's on top of this page as a STICKY

ok cool

I figured out my fat/protein grams content for the CKD,
and was wondering if 150-200g's of fat sound right throughout the week, i'm getting about the same amount of protein too though likeyou said: BMR=2,640. I'm pretty sure i did what you said right though.

How many grams of carbs are allowed on each of the 6 days of ketosis?
I thought i saw somewhere you said to eat high-GI carbs on the carb up day, is that right?
if i wanted to eat some complex carbs on day 7 would that be ok?
Are the capsule-type EFA's reccomended?

any replies are appreciated, thanks.

that sounds right, 200g of fat is around the usual for people

20-30, but NOT IN ONE MEAL, spread out, no more than 6g carbs per meal

I thought i saw somewhere you said to eat high-GI carbs on the carb up day, is that right?

HIGH GI first 4 meals, low-gi the rest of the meals

complex carbs on your carb up you mean? yeah, that's what the last few meals are. EFA's are the walnuts and almonds you will eat during the carb-up...read my carb-up section of the manual

how about these? haha

Do I need to do an initial carb-up before starting day 1 of the CKD?

Do you have any favorites meal-wise when you go on a CKD?

If you have the time, could you please share it with me?

Thanks for all the help!

NO!, that's a very bad idea because it will take you longer to get into ketosis

eggs and bacon

If you have the time, could you please share it with me?
eggs bacon, tuna mayo, ground beef w/ cheese

What is the longest you reccomend someone staying on a CKD?

No time limit....16 weeks might be appropriate, but I've done it for years in a row.

ok COOLIO!

ok, well today was my first day, what do you think? would you please tell me where i went wrong, thank you very much Mr. X!!!

meal 1
4 eggs 18g fat/24g protein
2 slices cheese 14g fat/10g protein

meal 2
1/2 can tuna 0g fat/15g protein
2 1/2 tablespoons mayo 27g fat/0protein
1oz cashews 16g fat/9g protein
1 tablespoon flax oil 11g fat/0 protein

meal 3
3 eggs 13.5g fat/18g protein
3 slices cheese 21g fat/15g protein
1 tbsp flax oil 11g fat/0 protein

meal 4
turkey 0g fat/15g protein
2 tbsp mayo 22g fat/0 protein
1oz mixed nuts 17g fat/10g protein

that's it so far...

i realize i've had too much protein, but that's only because i had trouble finding any food high in fat and low in protein and carbs that tasted good, that i could also prepare fast because i was running late for school today. if you know of any please share!

thanks Mr. X for all your troubles.

Add some fat from Flaxseed and some MCT....
Overall, stick to the diet for a while and see how your body responds.

Mr.X

thanks yo!

, but what is MCT?

Are sugar alcohols bad to have on a CKD?
and also, should I count fiber as carbs?

I ask because I see all these labels at the store that say:
"20g carbs
-10g fiber
=10g net carbs"

Re: thanks yo!

but what is MCT?
medium chain triglycerides....
can be used for energy like a carb, but are processed as a fat w/out an insulin spike

yes
and also, should I count fiber as carbs?
no and it depends

I ask because I see all these labels at the store that say:
"20g carbs
-10g fiber
=10g net carbs"
it means the product has more then 10 carbs because the label usually lies.....anyhow, anything over 5-6g carbs per meal and 20-30g total daily will kick you out of ketosis

Mr.X

warcraft 3 is dope!

ok the real label on the low carb tortillas said 12g carbs
minus 8g fiber=4g net carbs

what you think?

where do you get your MCT's?

You can risk the tortilla, but if they stick hidden carbs in there then you might be kicked out of Ketosis.

I get my MCT online, I think www.beyond-a-century.com has them; or dpsnutrition.com

Is running WITH hunger pangs any more catabolic than hunger pangs alone?

Honestly, w/ or w/o pangs you're going to be in a catabolic state either way. If you do feel very hungry, I suggest you eat 1/4 cup of oatmeal and mix it w/ some protein.

i can't have that many carbs until sunday though.

Oh, you're in Ketosis. Then have 1-2 tbsp. MCT oil right before you run. (10-15min)

thanks alot
