for all those who saw the monkey movie... planet of the apes

THE SUPERSTAR.. that is where you are wrong.. in the beginning of the movie, when he goes into the storm, he travels into the FUTURE, not the past... the future of some unknown planet...

then, at the end, he goes to the past, the past of earth...

the very beginning and end of the movie the year is set at 2030... the ape planet is set in 2600...

weapon x, i believe they were showing religion to be wrong UNTIL the end, when the monkey slut said something about accepting things and having faith because they might be true... until then, i agree that they were very anti-religious....

i bet the dvd would have a cut out scene, probably one that shows thade SOMEHOW using mr. funky bunches space craft that was sunk to go back in time FIRST, and take over earth... uh... ya, ok.

the female monkey lead looked too much like Michael Jackson.

I guess Thade managed to get the spaceship out of the swamp and hit a magnetic storm that shot him back to the 19th century.

I thought the best part of the film was the annoying "human dealer." He is the same guy who played the NBC stooge in the howard stern movie.

If he came back to a future earth where was the humans? When he left the female hadn't the humans and apes made peace? In the future scenes you don't see any humans at all. It made no sence. Was it a parrel universe or WTF?

Guys - Guys,

First I thought the movie lived up to its hype --- to extent. I thought that there were some definate holes in the plot-- but not the ones you mentioned. For instance when the Human loving ape and the old generaL APE went to see try and give themselves up - the Tim Roth ape brands her yadda-yadda-ya my question is -- THEY LET THEM GO BACK? I mean really no way is that going to happen especially since the 2 sides were about to face eachother in battle -- and not to mention both apes had to cross that friggan stream or whatever TWICE! Oh well.

As far as every thing else, I think (and this point is sort of explained if you watch the HBO special on the movie) that it is left up to the viewer on many points of the movie. Tim Burton in all of his movies presents his uncanniness and altrena thinking to the based movie(Sleepy Hollow- Batman)-- this being no different.

Having said that, Marky Mark in the begining gets sucked into the electrical storm and sent to that particular time where the Apes exist (due to the lost monkey, and the ships cargo of gentecially spilced monkeys)-- but I dont remember what time frame he was coming from. When he goes back all bets are off ad to time frames and chronological order -- my pointed is derived from other movies and books -- eletrical storms (like the one in the movie) are I guess in a way black holes-- you go thru in one time zone and youmay/may not come out in the time zone and you may/may not come into the real or alterna world--- if anyone has seen say Event Horizon you will get my jist.

Lastly when Marky-Mark goes back its not like the pod was a time machine-- it wasent -- so Thade (Tim Roth) could not have gone back in time --- he never died he was just locked in that area and was basically pissing his monkey pants becasue The Big Ape was gonna beat his ass (along with a few others)- my belief is that he regained the confidence to lead the rest of the Apes and therefore went on to become -- whatever a great leader ---

Like I said it is an opinion and that is what Tim Burton wants out of all his movies FOR PEEPS TO THINK AND DERIVE THEIR OWN OPINIONS--- who knows one of us might make a completely different depiction of that Planet of the Apes.

event horizon was a horrible movie... i have tried to drive it from my memory... but your explanation is poor at best...

Hey Haps, you're fulla craps.
If a filmmaker wants to let the audience figger things out fer themselves, he at least has to give them some direction and some consistency, both of which were sorely lacking.

Thades father told him how much more advanced the humans are and that they must be stopped. Thade was never killed and my guess is regained power over the people(apes and humans) He used the humans to build an advanced world. The Apes learned from the humans and became the superior animal and traveled back in time to change there destiny. But its a never ending circle of who is going to rule. My guess is Marky Mark in part two will escape and have to travel further back in time for when humans were in charge and begin the process all over again. But he will first have to travel well into the future to solve what actually happend. Part 2 will probably have humans playing the part of the experimental monkeys.

wombat, that is all fine and dandy but... the humans on that planet were far from advanced... they had wood sticks as weapons... they wouldnt anything technology wise...
