Ever notice that most guys who are really jacked......

....usually drive shitty cars, have mediocre jobs, and aren't very successful in life outside of the gym? Sure, everyone's definition of success is different, but overall most of these really big dudes i see/talk to probably dont make more than 40-60k a year and are stuck in go nowhere careers.

I hate to generalize, but i noticed this is an overwhelming trend. I'm guessing it's because of the amount of time most people have to dedicate to eating/cooking/the gym itself to attain that type of physique.

of course you have exceptions (pitbullstl was always one of the dudes that stuck out in my head), but it's a little discouraging.

i know i've never been able to completely focus on business(and my social life for that matter) and the gym at the same time and give both maxium effort. i've either been relatively jacked and broke, or doing well and out of shape. right now i'm probably above average with both.

that balance is tough to attain. especially without any gear. if you're running growth hormone (somatropin) - year round and doing a couple of cycles yearly (or if you just have awesome genetics), i can see it being alot easier.

i figure if i make enough money to be completely comfortable, i'll minimize the stuff that takes alot of time (cooking, prepping food) and just pay someone to do it.
statistical data would be difficult to apply to such a ambiguous assertion "most jacked guys are losers" i think we would do better by applying achems razors. most jacked guys are deficit in other areas and getting jacked is a compensatory measure.getting jacked to the exclusion of everything else is pathological. i would love to wax philosophical and dazzle you with my superior intellect but thats it. i am obsessed with fitness but i do not prioritize it above everything else in life. i have a family and a six figure income. i am an extreme personality and balance is hard earned for me. lets not forget that a bit of narcissism is ever present in all high achievers. we must all strive for equilibrium.

i have a stay-at-home-mom wife and three kids. . .my exercise regimen is part of the whole balancing act that is my life. . .it's part of who i am. . .i try not to skimp on any part of my life. . .especially the family stuff. . .sometimes i find myself in the gym at 2:00 am. . .sometimes i don't get a lot of sleep for extended periods of time. . .this is my life. . .it is what it is. . .

so not getting sleep is a part of a "balanced" life? hm...

meh...sometimes you have to sacrifice sleep. I wish i could sleep less. i end up sleeping 8-10 hours a night and still feel tired

digi, how do you overcome the lack of sleep? caffeine, ephedra??

My theory is that most people in the "normal" dating/social range have a basket of qualities that get them there -- a combination of intellect, physique, personality, humor, financial success, appearance, etc. etc. People below the normal dating range can use one of these levers to increase their marketability. Often physique is chosen because it is relatively easy to do and relatively fast to achieve.

That isn't to say everyone who uses the physique lever is below the normal dating range either.

And finally, I'd argue that on the upermost end of the spectrum (i.e. a person who has everything going for them *except* physique) is much less inclined to work-out intensely because they are already in the upper end of the dating/social spectrum.

people in large cities are fiscally retarded. . .generally speaking.

i lived in pittsburgh (not a large city but a city nonetheless). . .we paid $130,000 for our first house, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two car garage, vinyl siding. . .nothing special. . .sold it 3 years later for close to $200,000. . .why? cause somebody said that's how much it was worth. . .complete bs imho.

10 years later we moved to a smaller town in north central pa. . .we bought a 4 bedroom, two bathroom, brick, two-story, two car garage, on a lot twice the size of the one in pittsburgh for $90,000.

moral of the story? city peoples is stoopid. :freak:

Go ANYWHERE in San Diego county and try that. And not all of SD county is beach livin...you can get pretty much into the desert and still not come anywhere close to that deal you got.

$60K/yr. here won't get you a house...at least not by yourself.

Personally city life doesn't appeal to me at all. I prefer a secluded house in the mountains or on a large lay of land away from everything. I've never understood the appeal of living in a tiny place surrounded by neighbors and thousands of people where everything is outrageously priced and traffic is horrible.

Of course I guess that's also why some people work most of their lives paying off house and car payments.

To each his/her own I suppose.

it could boil down to evolutionary psychology/biology. mating. good thing i am tall muscular with big penis and high earning capacity.(now if i could increase self-esteem a little) oh well..... cant have it all.
