I've wondered if its just a statistical thing. Let's throw some hypothetical numbers out there:

Incident rate of "jacked" guys: 1%
Incident rate of "successful" guys: 3%

If the two factors were independent of each other, wouldn't that make the rate of jacked and successful guys 1% x 3% = 0.03% ? That's like three per ten thousand guys from the regular population.

I've thought about this for females too. If you think about all combining all the desirable traits (i.e. pretty, intelligent, nice physique, kind, successful sexually adept) it's got to be a super-small frequency like one per ten thousand or so.

....usually drive shitty cars, have mediocre jobs, and aren't very successful in life outside of the gym? Sure, everyone's definition of success is different, but overall most of these really big dudes i see/talk to probably dont make more than 40-60k a year and are stuck in go nowhere careers.

I work for an investment banking firm and I can tell you there isn't a single "jacked" guy in my department. Some that look athletic in a soccer player/runner kind of way, but certainly not jacked. There are certain high paying careers that could probably lend themselves to the lifestyle but finance isn't one of them.

Jacked is kinda rare
Successful is kinda rare

Requiring two kinda rare things combined makes it extra-rare -- and not in a "how do you like your steak cooked?" way.

And between you and me, I don't think they are independent. I think they are antagonistic at the low-end and the high-end of the dating spectrum. In the mid-range, where the guy or girl has a reasonable level of dating desirability, they are somewhat independent.

Example of low end: the girl who's got less going for her physically but fills the gap with physical fitness and a nicer personality.

Example of high end: the drop-dead gorgeous girl who's got everything going for her but can afford to have attitude and still get guys.

they can't spare an hour and a half four times a week?? puh-leez! i'm in the financial field and i don't know very many people that work as many hours as i do and i still find time.
