Hi to all, lifted in the English championships yesterday in Frome, Somerset. Here are my lifts:
squat:260kgs
bench press:170kgs
deadlift:310kgs
total:740kgs
bodyweight:88.8kgs
The venue was the Train station gym held by Greg Ashford(nice guy), standard of lifting was good, bit of a shame no youngsters lifting, warm up for squats where very poor. I warmed up with 70kgs, 110kgs then 150kgs. Only three warm ups, then I had to go and squat 260kgs, the squat racks for warm ups where so high I couldnt even get the weight off the racks. Decided not to take my last squat and save my energy for deadlift, didnt have anybody to worry about, so I used my head instead of my body.
Plenty of friendly guys at the venue, very nice to finaly meet Golden Arrow, the guys legs are huge!!! plenty of potential, still young, made all his lifts look effortless. Hope to see him smashing records in the near future!!
Very impressed with a lifter in the 100kgs class, forgive me if I get the name wrong Craig Richardson, big squat with 320kgs and well fought 300kgs deadlift. Plenty of potential.
Opened on the bench with 160kgs, lift when realy well. 2nd attempt 170kgs went the same way, on my third played safe with 177.5kgs the weight felt light, blasted it off my chest and it went straight into the rack, silly mistake.
On the deadlift opened with 300kgs, lift flew up easy. Ripped all the calouses out of my right hand, bit of a nightmare. On the second attempt pulled 310kgs, went up easyer than 300kgs. On my third and final attempt, I was having a right bollocking off my mrs, because she didnt want me going over 300kgs on anything in this comp-not to burn my body out. But attempted 326kgs British open record held by Martin Donovan, which has stood unbroken for 6 years. Bar traveled nice off the floor, got the weight over my knees just shy of lockout and I just run out of steam, holding the bar for about 4 seconds-which felt like an eternity. All in all enjoyed myself, nice friendly atmosphere. I would like to congratulate all who lifted
