Endurance and strength enhancement by cooling - the "corecontrol"

I just found out about this:

http://www.avacore.com/

here is more info on it :
http://www.stanfordalumni.org/news/magazine/2005/julaug/features/cool.html

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.03/bemore.html?pg=1&topic=bemore&topic_set=

But they cost about $4000 each. I think I could build my own equivalent version for about $100, though. I have drawn up a design, it is not the same as this thing, but performs the same function. You submerse your hand in water and then vacuum is applied. So your hand gets wet, but it is cheaper to build and less finicky, and doesn't require any fancy seals.

You think I could sell these things? I am not asking about legal issues/patents, just demand. Read the articles to see what kind of results these guys are getting - something like 80% improvement.

Hmm... maybe the business and marketing forum could help? Maybe HR could give some input on patent law or something if you're serious.

:cow:
Well, I'm just a student, so I am not interested in an industrial-scale operation. I can make the things and sell them through ebay or something, but I wouldn't plan on anything more than that. I'm not really concerned with patents (except infringement - but I think my design is unique enough), this is too small scale.

I just thought I could jump on the opportunity for a bit of pocket cash because I have access to a machine shop and enough experience with electronics to slap this thing together for whoever wants one enough to take the initiative. But I am not getting into marketing BS. If people want to buy one, great. If not, whatever .

Given the apparent potential this thing has, I thought there'd be some demand? But I posted to the 4 busiest athletic forums I could find, and only got 1 interested reply. So I guess that's that.
