Doc Just Told Me My Liver Emzymes Are Way Over Norm.

How far are you from the North Shore LIJ hospitals?

They have a pain management program that could be of help to you. I realize this doesn't relate to your thread but it's a part of a larger issue.

I see Dr Forde whom I'm not sure is right for your needs but I would recommend calling them and asking for some help.

Good Luck

:)

I see what you meant about renal failure but my kidneys are fine and working great. it's my liver that's whacked the hell out but anyway thanks again for the thoughts. my ultra sound came back but the freaking doc wasn't in and the receptionist couldn't give me the results . so I know somethings really wrong cause she and I are old school friends and she gave me a hint that it looks like FLD (fatty liver disease) or chemical induced hepatitis, which is bad from what I read! As for the Morphine I've been on it for almost 3 years now because of lower back, neck, hip and knee pain from a accident I had back in "95" so as you can see I've gone through a ass load of pain meds the past 15 years to get to the point of having to be on morphine @ 460mg per day along with other meds also. But it's just my luck here I was looking for help to get back the mass I lost and have using gear back in my college days and now I got liver issues ! good grief...................FMT

The liver breaks down all the drugs in the body, so it looks like the morphine and all the pain meds may be having an effect on your liver.

Ironically, it does take about 15 years of things like 'hard drinking' in your case, loads of meds, to do any significant amount of damage to the liver.

Fatty liver can also be related to diet, if you eat a lot of sugar or high GI carbs............

The liver does have a remarkable capacity to regenerate.

You will have to give it a rest though, so it may mean finding another means of pain management.

Have you also been taking any paracetamol?

Those LFTs aren't that high at all, relax. your doctor will take of it.

By the way, LFTs won't tell you anything about your renal function.
I know that thanks. The renal function answer was posted by another bro when i first started this thread . Being a ex firefighter/emt I knew his answer was way off the mark. Also if you read the opening post on this thread I listed my LFT's and what the normal ranges should be.Most are 4 to 6 time over norm. Also my doc hasn't a clue after all the test I've done and Friday I have to see a expert Gastro Doctor to try and clear me for ACL RECONSTRUCTION on 11/06..........fmt

Out of curiosity, do you binge drink (>4 drinks on one occasion) or drink >2 drinks per day?[/QUOTE ]To tell the truth I haven't touched a drop of anything in 15 years. Once they started in with the "heavy" drugs after my accident I did a ass load of research being that I had so much free time as saw all the drug and booze interactions and problems it causes and haven't pick up a Foster or anything else since that day. Before this accident I wasn't like your avg 23 year old . I trained in the gym5 days a week played summer league Lacrosse and ran 3 miles every night before I went to bed to relax. So as you can believe I was in great shape.

just so happens I'm 10 mins from LIJ but, I do goto a very good pain management center over at Syosset Hospital it's called North America Partners Pain management and I see the head Doctor who's done right by me . He's got me back to a almost pain free life style after years of just "dealing" with it.But thanks for the idea. He's been working inconjuction with my medical Doctor to get to the bottom of this mess.....FMT

Well to respond to your post ;DIET. I've always have eaten a clean diet without much sugar at all and always high in protein to help me keep what little mass I haven't lost. Most of the time I eat fish chicken and lean beef lots of veggies. My family history has a lot of issues like Hypo tension and Diabetics so I keep my diet in check knowing food can be my friend or downfall.MY LIVER ISSUES: I got my ultrasound results back and no fatty liver disease and , the report said it looks to be in "unremarkable" condition. But my blood test LPT'S numbers are still high as hell. Even my Bun is high. As for the pain Mgt issue ,thats why I'm about to undergo the ACL reconstruction and medial tendons replacement to enable me to goto rehab and get clean from all theses meds. After this long on morphine I have no other options. AND ONCE AGAIN I HAVEN'T HAD ANY KINDA OF A DRINK IN YEARS!

I know what the normal ranges are and I still don't think your values are that high to be emergently worried - but then again, we are missing a lot of info here.

Your values aren't consistent with an alcoholic picture becuase you usually see AST > ALT at about 1.5-2:1
