Deadlifting

When you get into heavier weight yes you should wear one, like bblazer said not during warmups and during lighter weight.

I'm only deadlifting like 210 at max is it still plausible?

EDIT: Okay thanks I posted this before your post above mine but it came out after.

If you mean a power belt, I advocate wearing during your working sets, but not during warmup.

B-
when do you feel its heavy enough to use a belt on working sets, ive always had something against belts and things of that sort because it makes me feel like im cheating myself

Using a belt does take away from building up the core strenght. Personally i dont use belts to often.

When your working sets are > than 75% of your 1RM is a good general rule.

Remember that they are a safety device, and the first thing that goes when you are nearing your limits is your form, and bad form leads to injuries. A belt can help in those situations.

At that point your dang near maxing. Definitely need a belt then or when you start to feel fatigued.

They've always felt uncomfortable on my stomach and feels like they are poking into me. I wish I could get comfortable in them.

If you are pulling 210 lbs as a max, I wouldn't worry about using a belt. Just think about getting stronger.

Id say only use if the movement is straining ur low back. Even then thats a sign that u need to work on some low back and core strength. i can pull 450+ from the floor. never used a belt for deads. i have a few times with squats, my low back used to hurt when i did squats but i never did deads. now that i do them both weekly i dont have low back pains.

Nah thats the max that I rep. Not my max weight lift. Thanks for all the help guys I really just started loving deadlift. Cept for my hands getting all messed up while doing them.

I've bitched about that too on here. You will honestly get used to it after a while- in my short time deadlifting I've had 2 bloody callouses.

Keep doing it up and good luck!

i supposed it depends on the person. i can squat and dead pretty heavy for my age and size and i havent used a belt or anything since highschool. I pulled 515 on thursday with just chalk. felt good.

What do you mean why? And are you the dude in your avatar? So my hands dont get completely fucked up. I have girly hands I dont want rough ass hands.

Yes, that is me nearing the end of pulling a 45k lb cement truck about 90 feet.

Notice I am not wearing gloves?

I'm really old, and know almost everything. One of those things is that wimmins like man hands, not girlie hands unless they are into other wimmins.

So stop using gloves.

You'll thank me later.

Deadlifting with gloves is like having to deadlift with a thicker bar anyway...

If that really is you then you're amazing. Major props I saw that on TV I believe. Now that you said that I'm not gonna use gloves anymore. Cant have an old man showin me up.

Yup, really me. I have another contest on April 24th. If I get a good pic I might change my avi to that - hopefully a 60" stone load or log press. No matter what I'll post some pictures of me getting my ass handed to me by the really BBMFs that will be there.

Good idea to lose the gloves. Just use chalk.

We'll talk about tacky later. You'll love that.

You're a beast regardless of age. Simple as that. It takes dedication and knowledge to get where you're at and I'm still wet behind the ears hungry for knowledge.

I only wear gloves if they match my purse.

Don't do deads. They are bad for your back. Stick to that goofy back raise machine all the fat people use.

Bblazer will you adopt me as your son?

I don't eat too much and my personal hygene is getting better. Plus I can spot you and help load the bar.

I love yard work! It's great gpp.

The "not eat much" comment was an attempt to trick you into saying yes :)
