chest triceps better together or apart>

i do them separately, however, it all depends on how much energy you have left after benching and how hard you want to hit your tris.

Do not do full lockouts when doing chest movements, and hit your tri's the same day. This will enable you to keep constant stress on the chest without putting the tri's to work, and be able to train Tri's on the same day.

I work everything twice a week, so I cannot do tri's on a different day. They would not be recovered by the time chest came around again, or vise versa. I do not use lockouts on my pressing, and have had great results in both areas....

Hey..this seems like a really good idea...would you mind posting up your split? :)

i do chest and tris on the same day and my tris have never felt better. im doing the 5x5 method and when im done my tris feel like they are gonna explode.

I think it depends on the split you use.

The only time I would pair them is if you used something like:
1)Push
2)Pull
3)Legs
4)Rest

Repeat.

When I worked tris and chest on the same day, I found that I couldn't hit my tri's as hard as I would have by working them separately. I had better strength and growth after I split them up.

do you also train back and bis on seperate days? If you do, how many days appart from chest and back do you do bis and tris?

My spilt is as follows

M - chest/back - about 1 1/2 hours and GRUELING!
T - Cardio when not mass building
W - Legs
Th - Cardio when not mass building
F - Shoulders, tri's, bi's

Calve I work in twice a week and abs 3 times a week. High reps for both.

When training everything twice a week, it's very contradicting to split your pushes and pulls up. You wind up training some muscle groups 3 or 4 times indirectly!

If doing everything once a week, this is very easy and can be one. Once a week is not enough for me, I do ALL pulls and ALL pushes on the same day. I just focus my form to hit whatever muscle i'm working instead of ALWAYS using full ROM, which can indirectly fatigue other muscles that i'll be working later.

This works well for me, and I've seen LOTS of gains since switching to this type of training....
