BF % Estimate

These calculators are pretty accurate..I did this while back..it put me at 16 and when I actually got it done It was at about 15.6% so they are on...a wise man once told me (SGT) Use a mirror!

I'd say i'm in the 'Hard' category then. My body fat calipers tell me i'm at 11.5% but i dont match any of the 'cut' pictures, i still have a bit of a gut, but hardly any fat anywhere else.

Is it possible just to have fat gathering in one area and therefore your bodyfat seems higher than it is?
i really don't know much about testing with callipers, but i believe that a little experience is required to get a more accurate reading. having said that, the callipers tend to give a lower reading, something like 3-4%. i strongly suggest putting in your numbers into that online calc that i posted earlier... some ppl have been pretty satisfied with the readings... and anyway, you've got nothing to lose.

It gives two readings, which one should i take?

Edit: Ok i have just used the BF calculator
Estimate #1 based on height and weight
Your "Ponderal Index" is 13.12 which gives an estimated body fat of 11.1% (16.2 pounds of fat)

Estimate #2 based on waist size and weight
Estimated body fat of 12.6% (18.3 pounds of fat)
The first figure is 0.6 above what my calipers read, and the 2nd figure is 2.1 above my calipers reading, so i guess my calipers are reading slightly low, but fairly accurate though.

I am considering getting the electronic calipers from AccuFitness, they are supposed to be 'very' accurate.

the second one is accurate, at least for me at 5'10" 223. what are the 2 readings?
See above.

Edit: None of these calculations seem to consider muscle mass or water weight though. I suppose if you want a spot on BF % you need to get it measured using the tank of water method, if you know the one i mean?

yes.
actually the second one is more accurate when considering muscle mass. with the first one i'd be a fat slob, but the second one is more accurate and only shows me to be a slob :o
