GNC = Get Nothing Cheap
General aNnoyance Center's protein is pretty cheap but I've found that unless I'm mixing it up, it has a pretty flat taste and feel to it. What I mean by that has to be experienced. Try something like Isopure's Zero Carb protein, or EAS Vanilla Ice Cream flavor proteins and you'll see that GNC's using some borderline nasty artificial flavoring.
What I mean by borderline nasty is this: if it doesn't taste so yummy that you are not always automatically thinking about its taste, then it's probably nasty and you've just gotten used to tolerating nasty tastes as long as there's a 'hint' of chocolate to help it go down. So when I think of Metr-X, peanut butter flavor MRP, or EAS Strawberry, the first thing that comes to mind is not protein count, but flavor.
GNC has good protein count, good price if you fall for...i mean, take their, BOGO (Buy One Get One half price) and use the card. If you call up their customer service line and complain about something, they'll send you a coupon you can use too. If you're going to complain about things you don't care about too much, at least make them valid points so they're getting something for the $3-$5 they're sending you.
Budget and non-Budget picks:
Budget:
Protein- www.proteinfactory.com (possibly GNC if I can stomach it)
Dextrose- same (use Gatorades to supplement the supply, not replace it)
Glutamine- www.netrition.com ($44/kilo) compare GNC ($47, half kilo)
non-Budget
Protein- Isopure Zero Carb, or Met-Rx APM{SP?} @GNC
Dextrose- more Gatorade if not on budget.
ciao,
B
