2. they dont "routinely" use stoning as an execution method... its about as routine as polygamy and warren jeffs in the boondocks of america... only these are the boondocks of iran.

Comparing Warren Jeffs to those who stone people to death is typical of your logic. Jeffs never killer anyone, and is being prosecuted for his crimes. None of the Kurdish stoners have been arrested (post a link if they have). The Iranians don't prosecute those resposible for stoning either (again post a link if they ever have).

yes that's true.........from the book I read about the cuban revolution said that although Guevara "probably" wasn't interested in Castro's position, Castro was always scared that one day he would be supplanted by Guevara, and at least from a perspective of the people at that time, he was right to be scared. Castro's power, from what I've read, wasn't solidified until after Guevara's death........

no, im arguing against your absurd implication that you can't murder someone in america, but you can get away with it in an islamic country. that would make sense considering america's murder rates dwarf that of iran's.

iran placed a moratorium on stoning in 2002 under their commitment to article 6(2) of the international covenant on civil and political rights that death sentences will be imposed "only for the most serious crimes"

if stoning still occurs in iran it's done in rare occurances (i believe the last one was in 2004) and in small villages that still abide by shari'a law.

WTF? You're arguing against a implication I never made! I've never said you can't get away with murder in America. From 1985 to 2005 there are 8,894 unsolved murders in New York City. Imagine how many more in the whole country. I imagine every country has homicides go unsolved.

My point is: We have no shortage of criminals, but our society never stops trying to bring them to justice, according to the rule of law.

I'm impressed that Iran "officially" placed a moratorium on stoning, as mentioned in the links I provided. To bad the central government has little intrest in enforcing it. That's their problem though.
My problem is when they want to export this mind set to the rest of the world.

I think I understand pb's point here........he's not saying that there aren't bad people here, for sure there are........but they are considered criminals and sought after to put in jail. Now, in all fairness.......it wasn't that long ago that we were stringing people up in trees for the crime of being colored and drinking from the wrong fountain........so we certainly have our past to be ashamed about. But what I think he's getting at, and I somewhat agree with him........is that in the middle east there seems to be a certain compliance with what we saw in that video. And I don't think it's just these "yazidi" kurds.......I've heard stories of muslims girls being beaten and raped for falling in love with a christian boy........yet when a christian girl fell in love with a muslim boy from a neighboring village......the muslims basically told the christians to get lost when they came for the girl, who was like 14 or 15. Muslims have an incredible double standard.........but religion will do that to you........no religion is recused from that. It's just that at the present time..........the middle east is a boiling pot, so it makes everything look worse. Frankly, all religion should be outlawed IMO.........or at the very least kept on such a tight leash that it never pervades governance. Once religion get's it's filthy little paws into governing bodies.......it's all over. Ration and reason get supplanted by secular doctrine..........and it's happening in the U.S as we speak.
