ANy Dextrose/maltodextrin replacement?

I posted this on diet board a while ago with little response, so I decided to post it here. Unfortunately I have problems with acne. I have come to the conclusion after trial and error that certain foods somehow cause me to breakout worse. Dextrose is one of these. Peanuts are another thing that cause me to get big cystic acne on my jaw. Please don;t respond telling me its proven food has no effect on acne because this is not true because the studies are flawed and no two people are alike anyway. So what I am wondering is will I be seriously hindering gains by not using dextrose post workout? Could I instead mix a cup of oats, and take some glutamine and hope for the best? I like having bigger muscles then other people, but having acne on my face and back worse then usual is just not worth it. One other thing I thought about is taking cooked white rice and putting in the blender with protein and splenda, but I don't know how this would work.

Well, to be honest, I dont think I would ever throw rice in a blender with protein :worried:, Im gonna have to say that it would probably taste like rotten asshole, but let me know. I really dont think that dextrose would make you break out, but if you have come to that conclusion then Im not going to argue with you, like you said, everyone is different. Heres the deal bro, I used dextrose/malto throughout the entire winter while bulking, probably around 6 months, when I started cutting up I was working with a friend that has his pro card and we were working on my diet. He explained to me that many of the competitors that he talks with really dont use the simple sugar approach post workout. He talked me into switching to oats. Last year while cutting I used dextrose/malto and Im almost done cutting right now and have been using the oats for the past 3.5 months. To be completely honest, I cant tell the difference, it definately helped me cut up better. Put it this way, I went with the exact same supps, AS, and the diet was very similar, I kept more strength this year and Im 10lbs heavier. Now the extra lbm I have this year is most likely do to the awesome job I did while bulking, and Im not saying that the oats worked better keeping muscle on while cutting, but I have come to the conclusion that they work just as well. Now I realize that most bros are going after the low glycemic, fast increase in sugar and insulin to drive the nutrients in, however, this, I feel is kind of over-rated, and after this intake of dextrose your insulin levels will be high for hours and consequently make us fat, especially when trying to tighten up.

Im probably going to stay with the oats even while bulking this upcoming winter, they fill me up better after my workout and Im thinking that they will help keep me a little leaner also. I know there are those on this board that swear by the simple sugar approach, but I have spoken with a few on this board that agree with me. I dont disagree that it works good, but personally I dont think it makes much of a difference, if any. The only thing Im going to do is maybe use gatorade for simple sugars rather than the dextrose/malto.

Sorry for rambling on bro but Im bored right now and didnt even realize I typed you a friggen book. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the response man. That gives me some hope. I know it seems weird but certain foods cause me to break out I am 100% sure. Something is making me lean towards insulin as being the culprit because I remember when i went on ckd all the acne completely disapeared and then someone recommended using dextrose post workout and the next day I had a bunch of acne. During the carb up the same thing happened. But with peanuts I think I am just allergic or something.

As for the rice I don't think it would tast that bad although I love oatmeal so I would rather use it if it will work. Considering gear is anticatabolic I don't see and blocks corisol, I don't see why it would matter if you take low or high gi carbs as long as you get something, but maybe I am wrong.

Your not wrong in your thinking, I have proven it, to myself anyway. Believe me, I love the taste of my protein shake with pure sugar in it, but I am usually starving post workout and it does nothing to fill me up, the oats on the other hand taste awesome as well, especially when cooked with splenda and cinnamin, and it does a better job of filling me up, and the 90 mins i have to wait for my next solid meal go a little easier. If are nervous about not using simple sugars, then I would try the gatorade and see if that maks you break out, I know there are a lot of bros on here that use gatorade and love it.

Good honest post based on experience.

yeah me too. As for the sweetarts and gatorade they also cause break outs. Milk is another one, I think from the lactose.
