I have two stray rescues
just took in a female that I beleive is pregnant
as mentioned earlier the strays are more appreciative
this pregnant one got in my bed and purred and slept next to me

I am planning to buy a cat. Is there any specific one that is good for a house pet. This is my first time buying a cat so any help would be appreciated.
One more question ( This might be a dumb question but anyways)does anyone knows what kind of cat is this ( left). I want to get a furry one. lol

I believe the left one is the same cat they have shown on the movie " Meet the Focker" Or is it different?

Trust me, my mother in law BRED pedigreed persians, I owned them for years, I wouldn't have another. They're cute when they're little, but those coats are HIGH maintenance, serious work. When they have long and FLUFFY coats you really have to stay on top of them or the undercoat (which makes them fluffy) gets badly, badly, badly, matted very quickly. The coates are more than the cats can manage, they NEED to be groomed EVERY day.

I do have one cat that has a long coat, but she's a mutt/cross she doesn't have that thick fluffy undercoat and she adores being brushed and combed anyway because she knows how beautiful she is (yes, the cat is vain).

I have seven cats, all female, some aren't neutered, interesting group dynamics, and they all have different personalities which is more noticeable in a single sex group. Inherited one from my son when he joined the service (neutered, sweet as hell, but not very bright), one from my mother when she passed away (neutered, and just screwed up in the head, cries when you try to hold her), one was a semi-feral that adopted me (whole, frighteningly intelligent, understands verbal commands, queen of the house), one was a serious feral that we caught fair and square and is still wild and extremely timid just got freshly neutered and too fearful to have a personality yet; three we got from the SPCA when I thought I wanted to have a baby. One I had to neuter and she gained about 6 pounds of solid muscle and turned into a dyke, one is an Abyssinian cross and the coolest cat -- climbs like an acrobat, extremely affectionate, intelligent, friendly and inquisitive (GREAT breed, highly recommended, what a blast, I'd have a houseful of these) and one is a fat tabby with an oral fixation that I'm afraid to neuter, she's already the fattest thing in the house (I think she's got the cat equivalent of Prader Willie syndrome ...)

There are pedigree rescues that you can look up online, if you're really interested in a particular type, they provide a valuable service and really match the animal to the owner.

I have 2 registered cats. The rest of them are either throw-aways or rescued. The orphaned cats seem to be much better. It's almost as if they're more appreciative b/c of where they came from. My 2 pure breds are bitches. I love'em but they're not nearly as loving as the others. As far as your pic goes, the one on the left is Himalayan Persian. Rescue one from your local animal shelter or get one from someone giving them away. It'll do your heart good.

This is so true. The pure breds are bitches. And, you are right the strays are much more appreciative.

I don't have cats, but I apply this same theory to women.

I've found that the younger you get them - the more you can almost "mold" them into how you want them - now they will get their own personality of course - but if you can lavish attention on them when they are very young...they tend to be more affectionate when they get older..... Of course - there is always the exception and you get a cool older cat....but older cats have more set in personalities....
