I didn't get the impression he sees his wife as a servant at all. I got the impression if he lived alone, he would leave the dishes. The wife expects him to be cleaner, and he expects her to work harder. Sounds like TWO people have expectations here.

If I were you I'd probably let it go cause that does not sound like one you are going to win. I would ask for a little slack though. And then buy myself a bunch of shit with the money I made and nothing for her if she doesn't give a shit and/or want to do the whole teamwork thing.
