ALA....Yes, AGAIN!

you guys have posted some serious shit about ala here.
I started taking it a few weeks ago and my acne is clearing up.
hopefully it is helping me out in other ways too, but I am not taking anywhere near 4 grams of it a day.

Ketosis

I have to agree with Ranger on this one, I dont think Ketosis is bad for you at all. As far as I know it is just as natural as not being in ketosis. I have also seen first hand what it can do (My Dad changed his lifestyle to the low carb atkins thing) and has lost ALOT of weight (prob. 100 lbs.) over the last few years. He has had no side effects except for increased energy and fat loss.

Ranger- maybee you can answer this... I left a brand new bottle of Nutriteam ALA in my car all day and about half of the caps are darker yellow than the others, and they look like they are possibly moist or melted or something. It was probably 90 degrees in my car. Are these garbage now- or do you think they will be okay for a couple weeks?
 
Part of the positive side of the Bodyopus diet over the Atkins diet is that you come out of ketosis for a couple of days. Which is I think easier to follow and may have better long term health effects if being in ketosis for extended periods is harmfull. Speaking of damage when am I going to start popping DNP again?

While it is debatable as to whether an extended period in ketosis is harmful, being in ketosis ALA style is essentially like doing a super carb up *every day*. You can have 200-300gm carbs, temporarily leave ketosis (happens to some people) and then jump back in. Your muscles won't get that flat look that happens on standard keto diets, and your workouts won't suffer as badly as they would on a pure keto diet (atkins).
The TKD (targeted ketogenic diet) which allowed for no more than 50gm of carbs postworkout was a piss poor substitute, since 50gm carbs/day didn't do jack shit to replenish muscle glycogen and properly fuel your workouts.

That is the main reason for the weekend carb up in the cyclical ketogenic diet (formely bodyOpus) to replenish depleted muscle glycogen. With ALA you can carb up *every day*

Are you working out at the same intensity as before the ALA usage? Harder? Are you doing any other supplements? How's the A.C. at your gym? :)

I'm sweating more, but only because I've increased my workout intensity...

oh i train way harder and i also only take like 10 sec. for rest to and thats just stakin more waight.
 
Can't keep a good thread down:D Well, now that I have been
using ALA for more then a few weeks now, I really understand
how it works (at least for me). I have upped it to between 4500
and 6000 per day!! This is my LAST week of dieting. What basically is happening to me is I am almost CONSTANTLY in Ketosis. I do go in and out and that is (imo) why it is so effective
for me. I have lost about 8 lbs in the last month on ALA. I am
have not been masuring bf ratio's (I know, shame on me) but
will be getting those damn calibers soon.

I am sure my bodyfat % has dropped quite a bit only due to
all the compliments I receive;) and the way I look and feel.
Much tighter and harder and I look MUCH bigger. I saw a dude
in the gym the other night who I haven't seen in a while and
was like "Dude, you got fucking HUGE!" I told him it was just
his imagination and that in reality, I was shrinking (which is
really true) but he just gave me that look, and just dismissed me
like I was juicing! Haven't touched a drop. Strength is also
steadily climbing. Lethargy seems goes from bad to almost
non-existent. Have noticed some increased anxiety/anger though.
Don't know if it's related to the ALA, but it's there.
