7 down and 14 to go...

...until my Mother in law returns to Canada.

Three things that she is doing that bother me:

1. She has decided that her favorite place in the house to sit her considerable ass down and do her endless crossword puzzles is right next to the computer (shhh! she is right next to me now)

2. She is a bleeding heart liberal and keeps criticizing things I hold dear, but I'm biting my tongue so as not to piss my wife off.

3. She is very judgemental when it comes to things she thinks are beneath her Canadianess. For example she went off last night about how she really enjoys all the Star Trek series, and is upset they were taken off the one channel she gets in her neck of the great white north. Now she says she only gets shows like Survivor, which are insulting and appeal to only to selfish, ignorant Americans.

Of course Survivor is one of my fave shows, so I finally went off. I told her that a lot of folks consider trekkies to be idiots, and that Survivor, like any TV show is just a form of entertainment. Pick your own poison and leave others alone! Then I went to bed and my wife hasn't spoken to me today.

This will go on all week cuz I'm home on leave.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Drink....it'll help pass the time. Not a lot, mind you...that'd be unhealthy and give the MIL something to criticize...just keep a low and even buzz throughout the day.

That, or spend a lot of time out of the house. Come up with errands to run...spend the time checking out chicks at the mall, watching TV and eating at a local sports bar/restaurant. There are a lot of things you can do when you're trying to avoid home time.

Good luck...hope you make it without a major fight that's gonna mess things up with the wife.

Bless your heart! I'm not sure what to tell you on this one. I'm not exactly good at biting my tongue when it comes to people saying things. And technically, it's not like you told her off. You just let her know what you think. (I'm trying to help you out here) Of course, it's also a respect issue with your wife. That is her mother, and you are supposed to respect her and all her eccentricities. However, a person can only be pushed so far.

It kinda gets me tickled though that you could handle all her liberal comments, but the Star Trek/Survivor one is what finally pushed you over the edge. :)

This is great advice, and I have been out a lot. The check-out lady at the H.E.B. thinks I have the hots for her.

Thanks PC, you made me feel better. I guess I really enjoy Survivor a lot.

Hey, I just wish I had words of wisdom to give you. I'm afraid I'm not feeling very wise at the moment though. Just good luck with the whole situation. I know that you can make it through 2 more weeks. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger. (But you're not allowed to kill mother-in-law either, no matter how tempting it gets, lol)

BTW, how is your wife and baby doing? Your all's recovery routine going well too?

Thunderdome....
Two men enter, one man leave
Two men enter, one man leave
Two men enter, one man leave

That's what you get for marrying a Canadian.

j/k

You def. have more patience than I do.
