I am sorry about your sister's disability. I personally don't know anyone who associates disabilities with the word "retard", it's simply not right. My cousin has DS, her mother left her family (husband and 2 kids) because (and I quote you) "the down-syndrome baby". Thank goodness she has such a protective and loving family, what a little blessing that one is.
